Well, rather than stuff in Chaotix or Arcade, Magicbox reports the following;
"Sega revealed that Sonic Gems Collection for PS2 and GameCube will include 4 additional bonus games: Bare Knuckles 1 - 3 (Street of Rage) and Bonaza Bros. The game will be released in Japan on August 11."
I don't think that fits too well in the collection, but meh. I guess it's something.

Mmmnnnngh.
If they are gonna include Genesis games I would have preferred the original Sonics. Even though they have already been released before.
Oh wait, that would mean nobody would buy Mega Collection anymore and they lose money, laffo.
Editz: Oo, or better yet. Since they already have the Sega Model 2 emulated to for Sonic Fighters they should have included Virtual On.

They should have just put sonic jam in there, with mp3 music!
I wonder if we'll see any Nights or Burning Rangers in this.

Don't tell me they'd rather throw in MORE non-Sonic games than actually busting their asses out and doing a DECENT EMULATION OF AN ARCADE THAT AMATEURS ARE ALREADY AHEAD OF THEM IN.

Even though they don't have any relation to the Sonic series I can think of (The non-sonic games on Mega Collection were at least related in their own misc ways), I'm not complaining that they've included these games, as they are great games.
The collection would be perfect if they just squeezed Chaotix and SegaSonic arcade in there, tough.

I love beating the mortal shit out of people in games like Streets of Rage just as much as the next guy, but I don't think they really belong in a Sonic collection, when there are still Sonic games that require some major portage.
EDIT: Oh, and I want NiGHTS.

No, actually this DOES have Sonic the Fighters and SegaSonic in. If I was going to get this, it'd be for Sonic CD, but if I could get my PC copy working (Damn scratched up Disc), then I probably won't bother. But yes, rather than emulating some random Genesis games, why not a couple more Arcade games, or some Saturn stuff? Oh, Wait. It's SEGA. My bad.

Since when did it have SegaSonic Arcade?

Guess who's not going to be buying it now ... wait, you got it!
THIS GUY!
...uh, yeah. Not having SegaSonic the Arcade = losing my $40 (or whatever). Not having Chaotix is similarly stupid. Both would be rough, as that'd mean emulating two different bits of hardware for 1 game each ... but I don't think one of them was too much to ask/hope for. OH WELL.

Bonanza Bros was made in part by Sonic Team (or had Yuji Naka involved, right?), so maybe that's something... I think it's a bit daft to include, but eh. Either way, since Bare Knuckle wouldn't be likely to have an exclusive "classics pack" release, anyway, fans of the series are really appreciating this news, so I don't mind it. (Ironic about first the original name, and the fact that "Blaze" is a prominent female character, and now Sonic Rush has the same name for a queen...)
There's muttering that there'll be more still included, so hopefully SegaSonic Arcade wasn't left out, and they're just throwing these in because they have the emu and the space already. Chaotix? That I'm not sure will make it. But it'd be nice.
I wonder if the new emulators will allow for savestating like the one in SMC+ did?

I dunno, I'm guessing savestating will require quite a bit of memory card space. Pretty easy to dispense on an X Box harddisk, but less so on standard issue GC memory cards.

Truthfully, I would rather play Bare Knuckle(Streets of Rage) 1-3 than Chaotix and I don't really care if the latter game is in this collection or not.
But I'm just saying this because I thought Chaotix was crap.
The biggest thing I'm still concerned about is if Sega succeeded in getting the rights to use the Mega CD tracks to Sonic CD or not.

I'd rather have SegaSonic Arcade and Knuckles Chaotix, just for completeness, though.

Besides, Chaotix was really Metal's time to shine. Sonic CD... pheh. Nothing matches him sliding into the command chair, and looking up with a gleam from his red eyes.
Not to mention that Speed Slider had great music.

I'm just worried over the fact I can already see the abysmal reviews this is going to get. Game Gear Games people already got in the other collections, a Virtua Fighter 2 "Ripoff" and a racing game no gaming journalist outside the Sonic community seemed to dig (infact, Sonic R is one of those "joke games" a lot of Magazines seem to cite, mainly over the music).
Streets of Rage really helps the collection, sure, but it's not really going to be that big of a "Wow!" factor just on Streets of Rage alone. We need... NiGHTS, I guess. NiGHTS alone would sell this collection, but NiGHTS, Chaotix, and SSA would really hit a homerun for a lot of people.

I have to agree with Blaze there, but I think it's fairly obvious what'll happen. Sega'll release this, then in about a year, they'll release a collection with Chaotix and SSA among some insignificant crap and then a year later, one with NiGHTS - each year, screwing us out of our money =P

I think Hermit be a little confused. Damnit, swear I read that somewhere. Ah well, there goes pretty much any need to buy this. Played StF when it was emulated, and it was nothing special.

About NiGHTS I would still rather have a special 10th Anniversary Edition Re-release with all the fixin's than to place it in some random Sonic collection.

It looks like they're just going to fill it out with Genesis/Mega Drive games rather than anything special.
You know, if they're hippity on PC ports. Hows about putting Virtua Fighter 2 on there just to compare the two?
