I am far too cool to own a PS2.

But what about GOD OF WAR? GRAND THEFT AUTO? KILLZONE? ( ) I own a PS2. I don't have that many games for it. Although this topic actually sparked up a discovery, which I'll eventually polish and complete and show to the internets.

The PS2 is a video game console, and I don't own any video game consoles.

I didn't get my PS2 until the latest price drop. I just couldn't afford it like I could for the Gamecube which came with the Zelda Collector's Edition.

I would probably be more interested in a PS2 if I was more of an RPG junkie. It's hard, because I love the deep plots most bring but just don't like the gameplay.
I only play Pokemon and the Mario RPGs because they're different takes on the standard RPG that give it an enjoyable flavor. That was why Mario & Luigi 2, though having a wonderful plot, was still my least favorite of the Mario RPGs because it was...more bland in actual gameplay.

OMG! Nintendo makes profit on console, they must be the worst business ever!! Obviously the way to be successful in the business world is to loose money.. on everything.. all the time. Yep, and being behind on certain aspects of packaging(lack of a decent sound system/lack of good video cables--couldn't they at least pack an S-Video/Composite cable hybrid--it wouldn't be bad only gaining $98 in profit instead of $100 =P) compared to the competition is a great way to appeal to consumers. Though it did work for the DS--though who knows if this success would translate into the Wii. *shrugs* No interest in God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, ICO, the Jak games, the Ratchet games, Sly Cooper series, etc.? I would probably be more interested in a PS2 if I was more of an RPG junkie. It's hard, because I love the deep plots most bring but just don't like the gameplay. That was why Mario & Luigi 2, though having a wonderful plot, was still my least favorite of the Mario RPGs because it was...more bland in actual gameplay. I was going to say that if you liked Pokemon then you would probably love Shin Megami Tensei:Nocturne for the PS2, but then I remeber it is rare, fairly challenging, and is also rated "M"(though I'm not sure if that last part would be a big problem for you). And Mario & Luigi 2's problem was mainly that it was too linear and felt a few hours short than it should have. I actually liked controlling both the brothers and babies and I felt the battle system was a bit better than the first game.

No interest in God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, ICO, the Jak games, the Ratchet games, Sly Cooper series, etc.? Im slightly interested in most of those games, some more than others (Ratchet and jak... meh) But that's not enough to value buying another console for. I understand that some of those are series, but I wouldnt be buying each game from each series (atleast right away) if I did ever get a PS2, and six games isnt enough for me to want a console. God of war -yes Grand Theft Auto - Multiplatform Killzone - I heard was pretty weak. (NO JUMP BUTTOM OMG) That made me lol.

Also, I find it funny that the PS2 is known for being the home of most of the RPGs when it is also home to the majority of platformers released this gen.

I'm not willing to pay hillarious prices (ie: nearly 1000 pesos) for a console. And importing is out of the question.

My parents have...generally not cared about me playing M+ games as long as it's just violence and "Suggestive Themes" rather than SEX SIMULATOR. Which I doubt I'd find interesting anyway.
In any case, ehh XD I usually just don't get consoles unless they have games that interest me...and from past experiences I am generally interested very much in Nintendo crap, so why fix what's broken? Lack of interest.

I might pick one up on the cheap once PS3s become all the rage (like I did for the PSX) but there's no game for it right now that makes me so desperate that I'm going to drop hundreds of dollars to play it.

I have to wonder where you guys are finding these "hundreds of dollars" prices. The things are literally $99 now. That's like two games.

^Discounted games don't count. New PS2 retail for $130 while used ones are $99.

Yeah, but a lot of us didn't have the money back then. Now it doesn't matter because we're saving up for next-gen!

Nope. I've been too busy playing Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (and it's successor Oblivion), Myst IV and V, not to mention URU. As well, I have been distracted by The Sims 2 and Sim City 4. On the console side there was my Game Cube with Super Smash Brothers Melee, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Sonic Heroes, Star Fox Adventures, Worms 3D, Mario Sunshine, Spider Man and Legends of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Not to mention my GBA with Mega Man Zero 1 and 2, Sonic Advance 1 and 2, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire and Mega Man Battle Network 1 and 2.
And, since I am not a one-dimensional person, I have spent quite a bit of my spare time catching up on my reading with the excellent Cat Who series, by Lillian Jackson Braun, not to mention the Jules Verne classics 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth. Prior to that I was reading War of the Worlds and The Time Machine, both by H. G. Wells. Then there were DVDs. Fraggle Rock, The Muppet Show, Dilbert, Invader Zim, Rocky And Bullwinkle, The Lord of the Rings trilogy (and their respective books), along with The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Ice Age, Shrek, Aladdin, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Incredible, among others.
And, of course, I returned to my obsession with Transformers recently, so money is going in there to. I just recently ordered the Classics Four Pack with Bumblebee, Starscream, Roddimus and Astrotrain, which set me back about $50.
Oh yeah, and somewhere in there I was working eight hours a day, six days a week to earn money, so that I could have a roof over my head and food to eat and, with whatever was left over, to pursue the above listed activities.
I just didn't have time or money to buy a system for which none of the available titles piqued my interest.

So a $100 gaming console and a good 20 games, for $19.99 or under, doesn't interest any of you? The way I see this is: Even if I'm not interested in a game, the cheaper it gets, the more willing I am to take a chance on it.
There are a few PS2 games out there that are $1.99 now (Max Payne, Max Payne 2). Nearly anything from the first 3 years he PS2 was around is likely $9.99 or less.
It shouldn't matter if you have this game or that game right now, because PS2 stuff is cheap, and even if you aren't that interested in a specific game for it, they're cheap enough now to where it shouldn't actually matter. You can BUY used PS2 games for roughly the same price it would cost you to RENT them.

Some people (like me) actually like to buy GOOD games though, and dont just settle with, "Whatever is cheapest" and not care if its a good game or not.
And if I have to buy a $100 console for 3 or 4 games that ARE good, and do intrest me on a console, or settle with 5 dollar bargain bin games, that blow ass, why even buy the console?
I DONT WANT TO PLAY DRAGON BALL Z SAGAS!

Thus, the only way to get ahold of a console would be importing. And that's an expensive business. And I didn't mention the hilarious prices games have too. (This is also why most who do have the console resort to pirating)
