...what is the reason why you don't own the system yet, even though it has the largest library of games? Does it has to do with money, or not that big of a gamers, or any other reason?
I'm just curious.

I dont own PS2... My parents usually wait a year before buying me a new console, and in the case where I probably would have gotten a PS2, I got a Xbox instead.
Im glad I got a xbox though. Despite PS2 having the largest library of games, not many of the exclusive titles on it really appealed to me. Im not big on RPG's at all, and the only game I really really want that is only on PS2 is Guitar Hero. And with GH2 comming out on 360, I have even a less of a reason to want a PS2 now. Not to mention I've over-played guitar hero, via a friends copy.
Sure, there are other games that interested me, but I can live without god of war, and shadow of the colossus.
Having an xbox since launch gave me a current-gen system, and thats all I needed. I had no desire to want a PS2, and it's pretty much remained the same since. Ontop of that, I really never had enough money to buy one.

Due to lack of interest. D:
I am really a fanboy, as much as I hate to admit, but there just aren't many games I can think of that I'd like. Only Katamari Damacy comes to mind. Kingdom Hearts intrigues me but I'd probably end up dispising it.

Supreeeeemo fanboy! I wasnt too happy with the PSX and, well, theres several factors.
I dont like Sony. Why? PRs that lie more than most others, and that Ken guy looks and sounds like an ass I didnt like the PSX I've pretty much grown up with Nintendo and apparently sided to them over all of this time I just dont like the system itself, I dont think its that good of a DVD player, despite what people got it for in the first place, 2 controller ports because even though theres multi-taps, getting more than 4 people playing on one TV is a bit cramped in my opinion. The online games seem to face the same problem as Nintendo's online titles do, which sucks.
I'm sure I'd be wrong about how I'd consider things over Sony's console, in fact I tried to buy the PS2 at some point, but then I realized I wouldnt have enough money for the Wii or have anything left over for other things, like DVD sets for one. As for the games themselves, if I got one, I'm sure I'd go for the platformers like Jak and Ratchet. Katamari Damacy would be nice too. I dont care much for Square, so I dont have much interest in Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy, RPGs in general. Most of the games I've pretty much got on other systems, such as my Xbox and Gamecube. Hell, especially my Gamecube. The PS3 just seems even worse, what with developers announcing how hard of a time they're having implementing features over their Xbox 360 versions, I believe that when a system comes out that there should only be one choice, no real additional purchases outside of a MEMORY CARD perhaps. (Which is why I dont plan for a 360 anytime soon)
Also, Metal Gear Solid 1 is availible on PC and Gamecube, MGS 2 is availible on Xbox. I miss MGS 3? Oh big deal.

I'd only really buy a PS2 for all of it's recent (and cheap) retro collections, and Katamari. Maybe some of Sega's stuff like Virtua Fighter 4, too. If I find one at a boot sale for a tenner? Sure, why not? Overwise, 89% of it's large library doesn't interest me too much, and I have plenty of consoles as it is.

Kingdom Hearts intrigues me but I'd probably end up dispising it. Extremely doubtful.

I don't care if the PS2 has the largest library of games. Only Soul Calibur III, both Kingdom Hearts, and Okami interest me.
Now, if the PS2 had FFT2, then, well...
EDIT: Oh yeah, there's that money problem. Got a Gamecube for the next-gen, and that was it.

Now, if the PS2 had FFT2, then, well... If you squint really hard? La Pucelle, Disgaea, and Disgaea 2 are the best FFT games ever made. Heck! They slapped Tactics on the end of La Pucelle so its even easier to pretend if you squint really hard.

Oh, right, Disgaea also interests me. But otherwise, eh, I can just borrow Kat's PS2 when she's not using it.

I boycott Sony's material in general. I've never encountered such an unreliable electronics company. They have yet to discover the concept of durability.
Practical PS2 emulation is well within reach now anyway.

I'd gladly get a PS2 if they were free, but they're not. My funds are limited, and food, Transformers, and games for the systems I already have cost enough as it is. I don't want to go and make a purchase that I'll only be able to justify by buying even more stuff that I don't even know if I particularly want and half the time is or will soon be available for a system I've already got anyway.

It took me a little while before I got one, but I'm glad I did... although I don't like how underpowered it is compared to the other two, it ended up being my favorite system out of the three, even the system HUD. (With the surf-like sounds in the background and the glowing lights and the little polygonal save icons that sometimes even emote when you go to delete them.)
It's not that I haven't enjoyed games on Gamecube, just... not as much as I expected. Really, I think not having DVDs (or at least something with comparable storage capacity) hurt them BADLY. It made the ports/multi-console releases... bad. And since they didn't sell well and were more work, devs put less effort into them, and because they couldn't be lazy with some aspects, others suffered. So it's not my favorite console and game selection, even though I love Smash to death, and several other titles. I just got Jungle Beat the other day ($20 at EB with the congo) and am having a ball with it. Old school platformer with clever design yay.
I really don't care for my Xbox. I wish the 360 was more backwards compatible so I could get rid of it, or mod it, or something. That's really the first time I've wanted to do that with a console. I also feel I bought it too soon, partially because I was hyped about DoA:XBV, because I was following the community, and the Tecmo USA rep was making up guesses about gameplay aspects based on what he saw in the videos ("dance contest" springs to mind, for one), and a couple other things I'm pretty sure he just pulled out of his ass. And even with over-expectations aside, XBV was a letdown of a production versus what it could've and should've been. (Thankfully, X2 seems to be a much better rounded game, and even if it isn't, I bought my 360 for Sonic, anyway. And some other titles I had interest in.)
The moral of the story: Klonoa 2.
Which I don't even own a copy of. :(

Is one of those titles DoA:XVB 2? *maimed*
Also, I never understood not buying a PS2 for protesting Sony's shady business practices. It's not as if Nintendo and MS are saints themselves and doesn't attempt to rape the customer.

Being really cheap with your console in terms of basic fatures and overcharging it(Wii) isn't saintly. =<

If I hadn't gotten my PS2 for free, I probably wouldn't have one :[ The console exclusives I knew about didn't interest me enough to make it worth getting a new system.
Of course now that I have one, I can confidently say that, if I had played Kingdom Hearts beforehand, by the time KH2 came out I would have bought one just for that.

OMG! Nintendo makes profit on console, they must be the worst business ever!! Obviously the way to be successful in the business world is to loose money.. on everything.. all the time.
Anyway, I don't own a PS2 for three reasons:
1: Sony doesn't put out PS2-only games I want to play. 2: Given the situation described in 1, there is no reason for me to spend the money to get a PS2. Therefore the PS2 is not worth the purchase. 3: I don't like Sony in general.

I'll second Gecko's notion of persistent hate, and additionally mention that if I want to play games on a system with the power of the Dreamcast, I will play my Dreamcast.
There hasn't been a single game to excite me out of this position. Also, I'm sure not buying a PS2 now!
