Well I'll be, Ku is sane after all.. er.. well.. as sane as any of us around here XD
Weird that I didn't notice that before.. guess I'm just used too used to seeing the two names used interchangeably.
MC_story_txt_MC?

"Anyone else notice that they switched completely back to calling him "Dr. Robotnik" on the website, though? I first noticed that in an earlier Shadow promotional material, and this site mentions his original name everywhere. Not sure I like that. I may be looking somewhere else but I see "Dr Eggman" plastered about everywhere on that site. "What is Dr. Eggman Up To Now?" "Click on Dr.Eggman to find out more about him" and the like... Either our good Moogle has gone mad or he meant "[..] from calling him 'Dr. Robotnik'" because he goes on to say: "I first noticed that in an earlier Shadow promotional material, and this site mentions his original name everywhere. Not sure I like that." His original name being Dr. Eggman. Edit: I just noticed that on the Sonic & Friends section it shows four spaces with ?'s. We know from story line download who at least two others have to be.. and I suppose that one group shot from the CG would tell the other two. Seems a little absurd to hide the other four, almost as though it's supposed to be a 'hidden feature' hmm.. ah well. Still great CG anyway XD

*listens*
"Can you see all of me, Walk into my mystery Step inside, woeful delight"
Or it could be 'what a delight' but that.. hmm.. *listens again*
Or it could be 'hold on for dear life' ...
*sings it a couple times*
'hold on for dear life' seems to work better, matches a bit more, I think. But we really won't know till the soundtrack comes out.. ah well. Or we get a clean rip from the game.

Nope.
of course, I have quite a few of the Sonic soundtracks (Sonic Adventure 2-disk, Sonic Adventure 2 2-disk and the 1-disk version, Sonic Heroes Triple Threat and Complete Trinity, in addition to the Virtual Sonic and Sonic Boom CD's) so if it's weird then I'm weird.. and if I'm weird then obviously I'm not weird it's just everyone else that is.

Spoilers? I laugh in the face of spoilers! HAHA!
*downloads and watches*
Iiiiinteresting..
it did seem to go very fast.. but then again it seems that whoever was playing was just sort of trying to blast through it as fast as they could.
I won't mention the story elements for the benefit of those who don't like spoilers, but a few game-play things caught my eye:
I am interested that there seems to be three different paths to take. not just the expected 'hero/villain' but also a neutral path.
what interests me the most though is that there seems to be lots of interactive objects (read: things you can break/blow up) as well as a variety of weapons you can pick up, some obviously of different types.
Seems aiming the weapons is partly automatic, although certain weapons seem to be manual. Nice to note that Eggmans bots still blow up when they are killed.
I also noted that Shadow seemed to be able to run on the wall for short moments..
Hmm.. still looks pretty cool to me^^

Whoa..
I have to admit, that voice work takes a chunk out of even my optimism for the game.
Although, thanks to going to High School in a Hick Town, I have developed super powerful Not Hearing Skills. I have the power to filter out moronic, or otherwise irritating sounds/people from the surrounding environment.
Problem is, they'll prolly also toss in some useful stuff there too, amongst the garbage and throw-away lines.
I thought I caught him trying to explain what to do a few times.. *sighs* I liked Knux's voice (even the English version, yes) before this.. if the rest of them are like this, I will personally lead a lawsuit against SEGA for loss of hearing.

What if critics have valid points to certain things since they did experience it first hand? Well besides the fact that I was joking. Critics in the modern media rarely provide any useful incite that is unbiased or in any way more than glorified opinion. Modern 'critics' are simply people who can shout louder than anyone else and have enough vocabulary to make their opinion sound 'official'. And since no opinion is totally uninfluenced by personal preference, the end result is usually bunk, or at least, an interesting insight into what those particular people, and the ones who agree with them think about a certain subject. True, there are some things that are unarguable. Like the side-effects of certain illegal drugs. You can't argue that it's only opinion that say.. cocaine has no negative side effects, when there are people who can thread a Kleenex through their nose (I mean in one nostril and out the other) as a result of the corrosive effect is has on their skin. However, when it comes to something like video games, there is just no absolute base for critique. Like art, ultimately it comes down to what you, yourself, as an individual like. Your personal tastes and preferences. So what we end up with is a bunch of people standing around saying "I like that" Or "I hate that" or "I think that isn't very good" Except they're supposed to be presenting reviews, so they phrase it in a manner that sounds like fact: "Sonic Adventure 2 Features vastly improved graphics over the previous Sonic Adventure title. With more detail and more real-world-like environments, it is defiantly a great step forward for Sonic gaming." What that previous statement said was simply: "I like the graphics of SA2, and I like the real-world-like levels". Unfortunately it seems that people find it far too hard to make positive statements, mostly due to the fact that it would require them to actually commit to liking something in particular. If you are a reviewer and you like something that immediately makes you bias (even though you were from the start as part of being human) and people will ignore you. If you constantly hate everything you come by, you never have to commit to any particular preferences and therefor can keep up the image of being unbiased. I will admit, though, that there can be true critique when it comes to games, but that has to come more from a technical standpoint, because only in that area is there some solid standard for measurement. You can defiantly say that, when a character falls through the floor often, that the engine of the game in question needs some work. Unfortunately that takes actual knowledge of gaming technology and patients to actually sit down and play the game and keep your attention focused on details and integral elements. Something that the average reviewer lacks, because, in the end, all they really want to do is shout their opinion along with the rest of them. Of course, it goes without saying that all I have just said is my opinion on the situation.

What? Reuse the same models? But that would be reusing something, and as Mega Man's critics have taught us, reusing anything in a video game ever for any reason is a deadly sin! Critics? Well there's the problem right there, Ann..uh.. Annada.. Athradamakada... er... Andy! Never listen to the critics, they only have critical things to say about things. Obviously, since they're critics. I mean, what kind of critic would say good things about something? I mean, why would they, like, call it criticism, if they didn't want people to criticize, right? If they wanted people to say positive things about things they'd call it possisizeing.. and you'd be a possisizer. So never listen to the critics, you'll only get bad stuff. .. Wait.. I think I digressed there..

*watches the VMW*
Now why can't they make a Sonic TV show, or hell a FEATURE MOVIE that looks like that??
I mean, that is some seriously kick-ass animation being done there. And since they now have the models for it, surely they can do SOMETHING with them? Right? I mean I hope they don't get all stupid and say "well. that's done, time to delete these high-quality models so we can build ALL NEW ones for the next game *anime happy face*" like what has been going on for like the last three games.
Well.. to be fair.. the only definite model over-haul was between SA1 and SA2.. we didn't get to see much of the high-quality models in the second Adventure game, but from what Sonic looked like, it was very different from the SA1 version. As for Heroes, it's hard to tell, but there certainly was some sort of over-haul, if not total rebuild. The models seemed to have more movement points.. or just used more of them. They were used more extensively in Heroes so it might just not have been apparent with Sonic in SA2.
But there is clear evidence of over-haul/rebuild on these new models.. the expressions, the degree of movement in the feet and hands.. all point to some sort of major reworking of at least the animation controls, if not the models themselves. It would be a shame for that all to go to waste after this game comes out. Sure, Sonic 360 will certainly make use of it, but what we have here is a set of feature film quality models of what seems to be all the major Sonic characters.. to not use them for a movie.. or a cartoon or something outside the game realm seems like a waste of potential.

Well, for one, I wouldn't count Battle as cannon story. But that's just me. Side games never count in my book, mostly 'cause they're made by third parties with little interest in continuity.
If I recall the SA2 storyline properly, it's never very clear when Shadow was made. We know Shadow was turned into the tool of Earths destruction some time after Maria's death, but nothing explicitly states that he wasn't around in some form before hand. Heck, that might even help the idea of false memories. If the professor had Shadow in stasis, he wouldn't know how Maria died and could be 'programed' with the memories of Maria's death. In truth, though he might have only been conscious a brief amount of time before the professor put him back in stasis to fine tune him or some such thing. He could simply be a beta, a test copy and Gerald could simply have been doing on-going research on him. There's a lot of room for speculation.

Drummonds is gone? Oh, screw that. I'd rather have even Jaleel White doing Sonic for the games than the Sonic X guy. He does Sonic horribly. Guess I'll be setting my Sonic games permanently to the Japanese language track with English subs again. Jaleel White? You gotta be kidding me. I haven't heard the Sonic X voice, but it would have to be in actual leage with Satan to be worse than the Jaleel "Give me nasel spray" White voice. I rank that Sonic voice up with Spongebob and Pewee Hermin as being the Most Annoying Voices Ever Created.

*watches Shadow trailer* I'll prolly get a lot of flack for this, but.. More and more I am looking forward to Shadow The Hedgehog. I was repulsed by the idea at first, but after seeing the screen shots and a couple of the promos, I think I've gotten over my initial doubts. Since he appeared in SA2, I have thought that a Shadow-centric game could be pretty cool. I also have been wanting a darker, scarier, more nightmare-world-ish Sonic game since the first E3 SA2 trailer, which was fairly 'dark'. However, SA2 failed to deliver the same atmosphere that the E3 trailer presented. Shadow the Hedgehog, however, seems to deliver in spades. I don't care what anyone says, what the tech specs are, or how silly it might seem, I am looking forward to this game and think that it will rock. So there, take that Mr. Popular Opinion

I can just see it...
it's the end of the game, the cut scene is rolling along, showing our heroes being all happy and generally laughing at Eggman's failure.. when suddenly the new character appear out of nowhere and kill them all.
The last thing our heroes see, before they die is one pulling off a mask and revealing himself to be.. Ray!
Ray stands over Sonic and laughs "THAT'S FOR HOGGING THE SPOT LIGHT FOR TEN FREAKING YEARS!!"
or not.. whatever XD

I have to admit.. it would be cool to see a bunch of the old characters again.
Although..
they would have to be redesigned.. Imagine what they'd do to Mighty if they convert him to Adventure style? Remember the changes the Chaotix went through. Although, I have to admit the Chaotix look pretty cool in their new style.
But character like Bean, Bark and Ray, who have little definition about them would certainly be heavily redesigned.. heck.. who says, when all is said and done, that they'd be any better off than these no-name newbies to Sonicdom.

Well I watched the Sonic Riders video...
Like most everyone has said, the game looks like it could be pretty cool, but the art style leaves much to be desired.
I can see they want to push the whole 'eXtreme' angle.. thing.. but the redesign is just silly and achieves nothing but to create yet another variation of our hero for people to argue over the pros and cons of.
Hmm.. that said, the look isn't that bad. It's tolerable and, in some ways, good. Heh, I've seen much worse 3D translations of Sonics appearance (Sonic 3D Blast anyone?), so yeah.. I'd give it a chance.

I hope that CG at the end was temp too! They look like action figures! Scary stuff folks, this game has gone from being eXtreme to Lovecraftian horror. Why do I suddenly want to sing Peter Gabriel's Sledge Hammer..? or the California Raisins song...

I am both intrigued and horrified by this game...
those hands..those horrible horrible hands...
Well I can get past the visual atrocity if the game play is good.
I dunno though.. the eXtreme look is just.. funky..
I dunno.. I withhold judgment till I see proper screen shots.

In few days I will be receiving a package from AT&T. This will be a historic package, for it will contain the item and signify the starting of a service that will complete my ultimate transformation from a net-nobody to a web-master!
Yes.. soon I shall have DSL!
Which, of course, means canceling my old service, which means downtime, which means net-withdrawal.
So, if, when I return I am a gibbering idiot but able to post my madness quicker and more constantly than ever before, you know why.
Fair warning XD
So, all you DSL users... what would you recommend for a new DSLian? Any particular on-line games I should look into? Websites with massive videos that a 56ker would wet him(or her)self just checking the size of?
