Night Carnival with Blaze is heck so I will spare you one thing:
Use the friggin' tricks. They give you extra heeeiigghtttsss. This will eventually be handy for Sonic as well. But Blaze's first level is hell if you don't realize you need to use that friggin' R button.

MGS3:S is alright so far. But the intro cutscene is like 20 minutes. Also, some of the dialogue is dorky. So Snake's real name is Jack in this one.
Major Tom: "HEY, DON'T USE YOUR REAL NAME. YOUR CODENAME IS SNAKE OK?" Snake: "OK" Paramedic: "HEY JACK WHAT'S UP" Boss: "HI JACK" Snake: "BOSS! IT'S BEEN 5 YEARS, 72 DAYS AND 18 HOURS SINCE WE LAST SPOKE." Boss: "AH, YOU'VE LOST WEIGHT, JACK. I CAN TELL THIS BY THE SOUND OF YOUR VOICE." Snake: "Okay, that's kind of weird." Boss: (10 minute monologue about "THE MISSION" and why it's better than friends or family) Snake: "OH YEAH DON'T CALL ME JACK ANYMORE, I AM SNAKE NOW." Boss: "WHATEVER."
It's also haaaaaard. Sneaking past guards in the jungle is tough stuff.

Yeah, things are really starting to pick up now. I just defeated The Pain. Some of these Codec conversations are gold.
"What about a Snake shaped gun? We'll make you a gun that makes you look like you're grappling with a snake!" "You're being ridiculous."

Goofed around with DS Wifi a bit. Mario Kart says there's one access point, but the signal is pretty weak and it's locked. A second (unlocked!) access point appeared briefly, but it must be even weaker than the other one - it hasn't re-appeared since it's initial appearance, no matter how many times I scan for it. Try moving to a different point of your house, but really, that just means you'll need to eventually get a WiFi Connection Adapter for your PC (I think they're $20-30), or it's possible the Wii will work as one, it's unclear at the moment. At any rate, you should probably wait until November for that, they might revise the Adapter to make it work with both consoles. (It's supposed to already, but it was released with quite a bit of the Wii's development and finalization to go...) Sonic Rush is pissing me off. It's really really fun, but there's a lot of really dumb moments in level design where I'm unfamiliar with the layout/gimmick or I accidentally hit jump a moment too late (or too soon!) and I find myself screaming down a bottomless pit. (I'm at Night Carnival with Sonic right now, haven't started Blaze's game yet) There's a route in Night Carnival which is pit insane. Try taking an alternate route through the level, it is possible. I don't really see what's wrong with New Super Mario Brothers. It's pretty much precisely what I expected from it and I guess anybody who was unhappy with it was simply expecting "the perfect game", and instead, they merely got a "very good game" - which dissapointed them, I suppose. It gets MUCH better when you start travelling off the beaten path. The hidden levels, the hidden WORLDS, heck, even just some of the "mini-pipes" later on are fun, and even showcase a bit of humor you may appreciate. One thing to note is that it's very empowering (no pun intended) to plow through some of the levels with fireballs, but they're better once you go back later without and appreciate the design. Like a particular level with piranha plants being ferried on and off by well-placed lifts... I haven't actually played anything else yet today. I went most of yesterday on 3-5 hours of sleep and I was up nearly 24 straight, between going to my Aunt's and playing my new stuff. I slept a looong time. I guess that's it. Have a good time. You've got a lot of gaming goodness to pace yourself with.

Does he have a WiFi connection in his house already? Unless I'm misunderstanding the adapter you're talking about, I thought he had to have a WiFi router...

Yeah, WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) and a WiFi connection are two completely different things. WiFi is simply a different sort of wireless technology.

I do believe I have fallen in love with Budokai 3.
I need to give Hulk and Klonoa 2 some love, though. :E

Was Budokai 3 the one with the ultra-cheap "Dragon Rage" thing (or whatever it was called)? If so, then, well.... I preferred Budokai when you could still win by actually fighting your opponent.

It's only cheap if you can't dodge your opponent during that time, and it's only made easier to dodge if your opponent decides to attempt an Ultimate Move. Since you're saying it's cheap, I'm assuming you couldn't ever dodge it. *coughsuckagecough*

Ah, but see - I'm not playing against dumb, predictable CPU's - since I don't have my own PS2, I only play Budokai games at friends' places. And when I do, I always play against human opponents. Human opponents who, as mentioned before, have their own PS2's and play the Budokai games practically daily. So if getting pummeled by Dragon Rage practically every battle by a player who knows exactly when to use it successfully equates to "suckage", then I suppose I'm just a regular sucky kind of guy, aren't I?
In the mean time, I'll stick with what I said; I prefer actually fighting to win my battles, rather then sitting through a 20-second montage of what basically amounts to my character getting his ass handed to him.
(And yeah, at least one of my friends agrees that the move is kind of cheap. It doesn't stop him from using it to its fullest, but there you go.)

I have to admit, the Dragon Rush (that's what it's called, isn't it?) is kind of cheap in the fact it's... more or less random chance for you to successfully use it to attack (or defend). An unskilled player could rely solely on Dragon Rushes to win a match and hope the dice fall in their favor. Though, really, the movements that trigger a Dragon Rush are totally blockable/dodgable, so if you're good enough, the opposing player won't have a chance to initiate one.
Ultimate Attacks are such a bitch to pull off correctly. I have to hit a button when the bar fills up to it's fullest, right?
Played some Klonoa 2 last night. Almost beat it, I think. I'm surprised how it's difficulty has actually ramped up fairly gradually. The game started out almost TOO easy - it was very plentiful with lives AND health. But now, these last three or four levels, I've gone from 30 lives to about 15.

No, no. I mean when you execute an ultimate attack, and the little window comes up at the bottom. Almost like a power meter in a sports game. You have to hit a button when it's at it's fullest, right?
My Budokai 3 didn't come with a manual and it doesn't mention it in training mode.
