kids want expressive designs and over the top vpoce acting and confrontation where good and bad are black and white and the battle between them is done in a direct manner with no confusion on who you should and shouldn't be cheering for. Kids want robots and generic anime-looking crap. Stuff that makes them feel like men! Big, bold, brassy and sassy! Looking good in spandex underoos! ... And I like the second flash best. Buz-eer, Ace is creepy looking. It suits him well enough.

That's why Excel Saga needs to be watched by everything.
It fits the bill for what kids want with some extra extreme to spare.

In fact, I want it to really be something like Tiny Toons, Animaniacs or Freakazoid. Why not just bring back Tiny Toons, Animaniacs and Freakazoid? That'd be best for all

Preferabley the two later of the three, and Earthworm Jim.

The Earthworm Jim cartoon is cringe-worthy if you look back on it, sans rose tinted specs. It didn't capture the dark humour of the games and generally comes off as embarrassing.
I remember Freakazoid being cool though.

Freakazoid had some aspects that were amusing, but so much of the show sometimes fell flat. Of course, I won't forget "I found a bowl! Good for me!", but it just seemed like a big chunk of the show earned a smirk at best.
Animaniacs had problems because you could tell they weren't sure exactly who to target, but when they tried targetting both, they'd lose the other audience. Some of it just got too embarassing for an adult to watch, then they'd turn right around and make an emphasized reference to a movie star or figure so old that the young ones had no way of knowing.
Tiny Toons was really quite good, especially since it sort of paved the way for series like it that hadn't existed in quite the same way before, but it is painful to look back and see the StarToons animated episodes. (The warped, bendy-stretchy ones that Buster does pointless little badly-animated hop-jigs in.)
I don't remember a lot about EWJ, although some of it was amusing, they had their running gag about haggis, and I got tired of the "Peter Puppy rages and bashes" gimmick.

I downloaded an episode of EJW recently just to bring back some memories, and it still isn't a terrible cartoon (although it isn't ecatly a great one either). The voice casting was great all except for Jim himself, who sounds like someone trying to imitate Jim Carrey...badly. And it probably as the worst cutting I have ever seen on the animation they use from a random episode under the credits.
The characters in Animaniacs are great, but they do sing a bit too much in it for my liking. I can't honestly remember Tiny Toons much, and I don't even think Freakazoid got much airing at all over here. That, or it wasn't that memorible.

Your right Gaga, Freakazoid didn't get much airing over here, or at least here in Ireland. Come to think of it, I think the only place I saw it was on an Irish Channel, RTE2. I only saw about 2 episodes (including origin thankfully). It was about this nerd who could turn into this hyperactive, zany blue skinned superhero. Humour was fast paced and off the wall, Animaniacs style if I recall correctly. I liked it, but obviously didn't see enough of it to form a full opinion. Having seen so little and remembering so much indicates that it was memorable though.

I honestly don't remember Freakazoid as much, but thanks to my collection of Animaniacs and Tiny Toons videos, I never have to go without them, at least.

Freakazoid only showed for a very short while (about 2-3 weeks I think, it wasnt long) on CITV. I just like it becasue it was a little more off the ball than the other shows sometimes. "Hugbees" shall forever be one of my fave random words to say.
I liked most of the animation on Tiny Toons, even the Star Toons eps were kinda decent to watch at times. I kind of liked the strechy animation as it seemed a little more lively than some of the animation on other episodes. Earthworm Jim was funny but it wasnt as amusing as the other shows could be at times

Whuh, 2-3 weeks? Musta been daily shows then, 'cause Freakazoid did show for quite a while over here, both on Dutch "RTL4", and on our equivalent of Cartoon Network. I don't remember all that much of it anymore since it's been a while, but I don't think I saw much repeatings of the same two or three episodes, and I do recall catching it rather often.

Heh, I must of seen it on CITV then, as I still vagely remember the theme tune!
Some-thing some-thing some-thing some-thing! Freakazoid! Freakazoid!
I did say vagely.

Reminds me of when I'd stay up until 5am to finish watching that during the summer that the first MC chat thing was born. Or sometime near that.
And then getting up at 2 in the afternoon.

I remember Freakazoid, mainly because my brother uses the net alias "Phreakazoid" which is inspired by Freakazoid. I remember the cyber-space part of the theme, but I don't remember the Roger Ramjet reference "He's here to save the nation, so stay tuned to this station."
I also remember that chat thing Fad's talking about. That was what encouraged me to actually start posting.

The only really bad thing about that point in time was that I was going through the 14-17 age groups.
Most horrible point in time ever. Worse if you hate people of that age group. So much angst.

Just out of interest, Jim was voiced (along with Evil Jim) by Dan "Homer Simpson" Castallaneta. And yes, the credits were lazily done. Still, I thought the cartoon was pretty cool, and in spirit with the bizarrity of the games if not with the dark tone of the first game. "We interrupt this program to bring you three seconds of dancing turtles" Anyway, Tiny Toons was pretty cool too although it did get a little corny at times. Never saw too much Freakazoid, but I remember liking what little I did see and I definitely remember hearing that theme song EDIT: Is it just me or does Freakazoid's uniform look like that of The Incredibles? They have similar choices of music, too. Hmm.

Bah, the original looney toons were cool, and Freakazoid was awsome, so as i would say, BAH TAH YOU!! This new looney toons i find is not worth watching at all, but what ever pleases the crowd, pleases the makers wallet.
