An ORGAN.
It was just sitting there, all in one piece (well, some casing damage due to scratching). I checked with the house it was in front of. It'd failed days earlier and they were glad to let me take it. Thankfully it was close to my home so we could have it sticking half-out of the car to move it.
Apparently it's a Lowrey TS-88. It seems to have been discontinued long ago, I think before 1985. It has an internal amp and Leslie speaker. I put it in the shed, and this evening I opened up the back of it to see what was wrong. Believe it or not, it was only a shot fuse; and amazingly, there was a container with another fuse (apparently just as old as the organ) taped to the board beside it. I did a swap and I now possess a full operational Lowrey TS-88, an entirely customizable user-servicable machine complete with a standard Leslie amp.

I'm proabably not the only one who read the first few lines and thought Tenniru found a human heart laying in the middle of the street.

I'm probably the only one who read the first few lines and thought Tenniru found an instrument laying in the middle of the street.

I found me an organ once too... Except it was in an ad in the newspaper.. It's pretty cool.. I dont play it that often though, as you can probably tell by the boxes of clothes on it.

I imagined a stomach first... then a lung. And I thought maybe the casing was just the outer membrane.

Count me in with Oni as the "actually assumed this post was sensical" club. ;>
Anyway, neat stroke of luck. Hopefully you can put it to good use.

I'm afraid I'm joining the opposing club there, Mr. Sz. I too figured on some slab of internal flesh just lying there. XD I mean, c'mon, "You won't believe what I found in the street... SOMEBODY'S KIDNEY!" That's just pure awesome... well, except for whoever needed that kidney. (Probably didn't help he had that initial emphasis, "an ORGAN")
Still, sounds like an awesome find for the retro musician.

I was thinking something from an animal.
Pretty good pickup if you never had to pay a penny to fix it, and I find the fact that the other household never checked the fuse/inside the organ.

Yeah, I figured he meant an instrument from the start. That is incredibly awesome, I'd love to find an organ or piano in the middle of the street.
