I'm proabably not the only one who read the first few lines and thought Tenniru found a human heart laying in the middle of the street. And I laughed picturing Tenniru taking it home also. And congrats for the free musical instrument.

Update: It works now. The only problem was a blown fuse, but there was another fuse (still in it's packaging) taped to the inside of the instrument waiting to be added. It apparently had been placed there when it was constructed, and judging by the very faded yellow on it the package was very old.
It's a wonderfully cheesy device, but good fun.
I also did some research on the TS-88. It's far, far older than I thought; apparently the model was only created in '68 and '69. That's... very very old. Older than my house. Old enough to have appeared on the White Album.
