It's that time of the year again! Time the Japanese equivilant to E3 the Tokyo Games Show. So who will drop the bombs this time? Will Sony come out on top for the PSP and PS3 after a rather pathetic E3, or will MS have something up their sleeves concerning the Xbox 360? And what about those 3rd parties? Will S-E shock the world with a formal announcement of the worst kept secret that is a FFVII remake? Will Capcom port Devil May Cry 4 to the X360? Will we get new and awesome 10 minute trailer of MGS4? Will Sega surprise their jaded fans with something will worthwhile like Eternal Arcadia 2, NiGHTS 2, or even After Burner Climax to be ported to consoles. Will anybody anounce anything for the Wii? Well anyway, here's movies of some awesome Xbox 360 games in action courtesy of www.xboxyde.com/index_en.htmlBoy oh boy, does Trusty Bell, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey look hot. YUM!

I think the airing of the DoAX2 trailer was supposed to be pants-optional. There's really no other explanation for it.
One of the nice things is that demos and movies will be stuck up on Live to go with TGS, a nice way to bring it home. And we do know that via a fall update and the HD-DVD adaptor (which has an HDMI port built in), Xbox 360 is officially going to support 1080p. (Some say it can be done over component, too, which it must be able to if Sony's promising it for the gimped PS3 package.)

Wow, no one here other than Kulock and I are interested in TGS--or at least some of the Xbox 360 games--other than Sonic? C'mon guys, I know some of you folks are maybe planning on getting a 360 or even a PS3 or you may already own a Xbox 360. And there will be tons of announced games for the DS and PSP and some of you own those systems too. Where's the excitement?

Um... I really, really liked the DoAX2 trailer. Didn't watch anything else.

Skies of arcadia 2 (eternal Arcadia) Would be awesome Nice mix between Suikoden and a lighthearted pirate adventure. Not really interested in the Xbox no, I can't think of more then 3 titles from the original Xbox's entire run where I was more then slightly interested in. How come Final fantasy 7 has been quiet for years, and now suddenly has 3 spin off games and an entire movie out within such a short time? Took Square so long to see the goldmine there?

Trusty Bell is apparently becoming "Eternal Sonata" in the US, and Namco Hometek's PR curiously makes no mention of Chopin's name at all, when the game is friggin' subtitled "Chopin's Dream" in Japan and features his music. So... there's concern.

It's a big concern with Namco's USA's track record dealing with their localizations. =\

Forgot to mention that there's a live feed (still ongoing as I post this) of the Sony TGS conference. www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=67794An amusing read. And you don't even have to refresh if you have JS enabled. In fact, they probably prefer that, for bandwidth reasons. Edit: And just as I posted, switched over and the "And it's all over, completely this time." entry just popped in. All well, you may still find it interesting.

Summary of the Sony conference stuff (and similarly-timed PS3 game news):
-The PS3 will have Mega Drive (Genesis) and PC Engine (TG16) downloads, in addition to the PS1 (and now PS2?) games. It was Sega who pushed the concept on Nintendo in the first place, so there's no surprise that they shopped it around. -Lair's in 1080p. ("NO SERIOUSLY, GUYS, IT REALLY IS." "Okay." "NO I MEAN IT." "That's good." "EVERY PART OF IT. IT REALLY IS!!" "Uhmn... good for you... uh, this bit doesn't look so goo-" "1080P.") -PS3 developers will have map and other data for use in the design of their games. It requires a lot of participation from other companies, though. I'm not completely sure why this is PS3-specific. -Online service will provide gaming news, users can post opinions and ideas, and possibly YouTube-style videos. -Biggest bombshell is the price. Surprise, surprise, Sony figured out that it was too expensive. (But the strange thing is that he said that the US thought the price was GOOD for what you got. Apparently he hasn't seen... ah... the internet at all.) But Japan didn't like the price too well, he remarked... so now the core PS3 pack (20 Gig HD, no Chrome, less ports, etc.) will be 10,000Y cheaper, working out to about $427 USD, and will now include an HDMI port. However, it's not clear yet whether this price change, or even the HDMI port inclusion, will apply to the current US Core packs.
Apparently the keynote was kind of lackluster, otherwise. There was a decent block of trailers for already-known games supposedly, and a lot of focus on an Afrika trailer (with still no hint of gameplay so far), but lots of the titles actually on the show floor seem to be having framerate issues. They are still works in progress, but we're just two months shy of the US and Japanese release...

Did they ever talk more about the PSP-PS1 emulator or anything more about the PSP? It would be cool if you could download certain 16-bit games to the PSP.
C'mon Sony, drop the price of both the tard and non-tard pack here. ~_~

Lost Oddysee looks really stupid to me. I haven't seen gameplay footage yet, but the intro scene... all of that is really absurd. Two armies of dudes in funny hats with weird swords rush each other while robots knock people around using blunt trauma only, in a huge, lord-of-the-rings scale battle? And amist of this is one dude, with long, flowing hair, not wearing a funny hat or a dumb sword, kicking the most ass out of anyone...
It's just... very... it borderlines on comedy just how absolutely "WTF" it is. Nothing about what anyone is doing in the Lost Oddysee trailer is even remotely practical. It's like they're trying way too hard to look cool.

Like FFXIII?
(though I would like to play FF13 also)
I think the main appeal of that trailer was how seemless the gameplay vs. the cutscene was supposed to be. Though Level 5's White Knight Story may have them beat(and the battle system looks better also).

I'm watching cam footage on Gametrailers, and...
Jeeze. I wonder if DMC4 was really ready to show at TGS or if this is all for dramatic effect. Because it looks like there is a LOT of slowdown and some pauses while the game loads data, but it could be legitimate "gameplay features" - like how in Wind Waker, the game pauses a moment whenever Link's sword comes in contact with something.
In the first video, as Nero fights this huge Centaur Demon in a burning town, the game frequently slows down when there's a lot on screen - and it slows down quite noticable amount. In the next video, they drop Nero into a more... victorian sort of setting, and when he first shoots his gun, the game freezes up for a moment. It freezes again, for twice as long, when he kills the first enemy he encounters.

Just saw the trailer for Ninja Gaiden Sigma on GT, and so far, I think I may be looking forward to it. New cutscenes, enemies, bosses, areas, and weapons, as well as being able to play as Rachel, integration of enemies and bosses from the NG Hurricane Packs into the main game, and a smooth graphic enhancement, all seem to make this worth playing.
Now if only they could port it to the 360...

Wonder if the release rate for the PS3 downloads is going to be as cruddy as the Wii's.

Side note on the MD/TG16 stuff, they said that it was "an example," and that it won't be ready day 1 or anything like that. But they specifically dropped those names, and again, Sega was the one that organized those two being included on Nintendo's VC, so it's still likely to be true.

I'm at this point totally disillusioned by Sony's actions.
Honestly, if it wasn't for MGS4, I'd but all have lost faith in them by now.

And MGS4 is by Konami, who knowing their track record may eventally release the game in some form on the 360 anyway. I could be wrong, though.
