Fuckin' hell. Edit: Shit. This might've been a spoofing/phishing attempt. (hotmail just told me the email address could be faked, despite looking as if it came from Paypal) Luckily I don't have the bank information for my Mom's bank, so all they get is my paypal account and nothing else (with an amazing balance of $0.00). I can't log in to change my password, either. I've already notified Paypal, so we'll see if this was legit or if somebody was trying to scam me. I didn't even notice the URL, which isn't Paypal.com (it's form-accept.com/www.paypal.com/).

Perhaps you should've had an e-mail service that would've filtered this junk.

Perhaps you should've had an e-mail service that would've filtered this junk. Normally they're really obvious. And it's my own fault. Having just woken up, I didn't even see the "Sender ID cannot be determined." warning on Hotmail (it's very small). Once I saw it, it dawned on me. "Wait a minute... what's the URL they provide...?"

Your PayPal account isn't tied to any checking account or credit card, right?

Sort of. It's tied to an old, probably inactive bank account with a negative balance. (Bank One screwed up hardcore on my Mom, and they said it was her fault. Many people have claimed Bank One has done the same thing to them, so she had a new bank account which is tied to her paypal account and not mine)

Yup, I think I can safely say this is the most retarded thing you've ever done, Blaze. No company (let me repeat: NO company) ever employs such "security measures". Just as AOL always says that it will never ask for your username and password above every e-mail and IM, no other company will either, since they already have access to the information. Also, the URL of the site you went to should have been a tip off.

Man, I had just woken up I didn't see the warning nor what URL. Two, the email itself came directly after an official Paypal email. Three, I had heard of people getting similiar (and actually official) emails. I figured the new Policy Update (the official email) required me to re-verify my account.
I finally got in and changed my password. The phishing site in question already appears to have been shut down.

I can guarantee that's not true. NO company will EVER ask for that information from e-mail. Paypal has an anti-phishing initiative; they would not send letters that would ask for any of the same details that phishers do.

"Do NOT give to ANYONE your password or any other information. Not even staff members. We will NEVER ask for it."
As they always say...

What? I've had the Paypal account for four years, Sanius. How do you think people pay me for comissions? The money just magically is teleported to me by the money faeries?
