Doesn't seem like it's BS, apparently reports from multiple sources coming out of the conference are saying that the next, major numbered Dragon Quest game is not Wii bound, not PS3 bound, it's DS bound. Mind am blown. (Subtitle might be "Defender of the Stars", again, take with a grain of salt, but not much more than that.)
There might also be a port of the DQ Wii game to arcades (the one where you mimic with the Wiimote as a sword), currently unclear on that.

Don't see how they would do an arcade port, unless they had some REALLY good motion-sensor technology handy.
Also, speaking of Square, anyone else here seen the new pics for FFXII: RW?

J: It's not complete rocket science, Nintendo just delivered it to home use at an affordable price. Arcade machines are seldom cheap, in comparison. More DQ9 stuff: Same staff as DQ8 (Level 5). Wi-Fi compatible, too, co-op with up to four players. Still digging for more reliable info, lots of extraneous crap and BS in the thread by people having a laugh at confusing things.

Motion-sensing games going from Arcade to Wii might not be -that- difficult, actually - most Wii games so far are arcade-like in nature in the first place. Lightgun games would probably be easiest, then "Motion-sensing" sword-fighter games and the ilk. Tech Fighters would probably be most difficult, though - although anything JAMMA-standard should be possible, Anything with more than 4 buttons would need either creative use of the nunchuk/Wiimote or traditional VC/Gamecube controls.
What I'M waiting for in terms of arcades is a friggin' port of Mario Kart Arcade GP. C'mon, Nintendo! You've NEVER left an arcade game un-ported for as long as you've had that!

Wow, from mind-blowing gigantic RPG series having an exclusive main installment on a portable to a random Namco-developed arcade game based on Mario Kart in two replies. That's... got to be a record of some kind.

It's not "arcade to Wii" porting that I'm wondering about so much as "Wii to arcade" porting, as Kulock somewhat put it. I've played a motion-sensor arcade game involving a mini-sword used to detect attack motion, and it was utter crap. If it's going to be ported from Wii to arcades, the motion-sensor technology had better be at least as good as the Wii's tech.

Hitting Japan in the middle of 2007, possible August. Here's a picture of that arcade unit, since there seemed to be interest:

IGN article: I thought DQ8 bombed pretty hard outside of Japan, but I'd be happy to be wrong. Regardless, we'll see this in the US. Apparently this may be a video report of the conference: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKOeBoxPhHA

I dunno about sales, but I know opinion on DQ8 in the states is fantastic. And after playing the Demo, it's pretty easy to see why. It's a game I really need to get. I haven't really sunk my teeth into a good RPG in a really long time and I actually had fun just doing random battles in DQ8 and I have no idea why. (Normally I loathe random battles in Final Fantasy games)

Wi-fi co-op has potential to be awesome. So if each person continually played one character, then would the money be split among everyone? Can you imagine the "cooperation" here? Making deals like "Sure, I'll help you buy that new staff, as long as you keep me alive next time." Yelling at each other when the healer spaces out. Ah, those would be good times. ^_^

Apparently the folks over at GAF say the game looks ugly. Which encompasses almost every single reason why I'll never, ever register for the GAF, even if my life depended on it.

It looks like... a 3D maple story.
Definitely not ugly. Atleast by DS standards.

Ah, Blaze beat me. Well, still, PNG versions if anyone wants them, they looks a bit nicer: Logoage: And I agree, it looks damn good, pretty much unparalleled on the portable. And to think that's running co-op, over online even, which is going to sap away at the DS's power as it is.

So you are going to base you decisions on not to register on a board based on a few people's comments. I'm sure not everyone there agrees that it looks ugly. =P However, I do think FF:CC Ring of Fate looks better. Arguably, one can say that this is the second best looking main DQ game as the series is not known for its high-end graphics. I mean DQVII had sub SNES/ early PS1 graphics and that game was released in 2000(near the time FF9 was released). Also the reactions of that thread was hilarious. I guess that really wraps it up for PSP(in Japan).

I didn't say that was every reason I wasn't going to register at the GAF.
Every time I make a trip there I always leave in a bad mood because I can't stand how 70% of the posters over there act.
Ring of Fate bugs me because everybody in that game looks like a toddler.
