I was expecting at least someone to post about it by now...
Did anyone here get it? I'm not particularly interested, but it would be interesting to see what other people about it, if they actually have it.

I guess the people that bought it were waiting on the others.
I picked it up, and the LE guide while I was waiting because I figured out how to get the cover I wanted (it's annoyingly supposed to be "random" between six designs, yeah, you want something "random" for a $30 LE guide, but I found you could look at the bottom lip of the inside guide image, and match it up to the shots on back...). Haven't cracked open the guide yet, just played... let's say two hours into the game, not very far.
It's different, anyone who tells you this (in general) is the same thing as FFX or whatever doesn't have a clue of what they're talking about. Some things are streamlined, some are handled in new, and slightly confusing ways, that I need to work out a little more. (I unlocked spells on the License Board, but I'm not sure when or how I learn them. Also, I can now turn on Gambits, but they do nothing when turned on for my character (I thought he'd auto-fight if I did that), and I don't see where they can be modified like I've heard.)
It also looks quite nice in-game, although the difference between the FMV graphics and real-time is a little jarring. But the crowds in the first city are incredible for the PS2. NPCs everywhere, doing their own thing. Many of them actually look like they have a life, or at least something to do, rather than walking around in a randomized pattern.
I can't say too much because I'm not very far. I want to play more, but after seeing the new Twilight Princess trailer, I feel like I need to make sure I finish Ocarina of Time first before the game is totally owned by New Hotness.

Honestly, 4 people on my floor have it and have been playing it. I plan on waiting til my roommate is done or something so I can play it myself without spoilers.

I feared that nobody cared for this Final Fantasy release.
Of course I'll never play them because I dont own a PS2, possibly never, but man, I just havent heard much hype or anything on this game. Its bound to be just as good, or better than the others but...well you know...

I will play FFXII! Mark my words!
But it will be sometime whenever I have the free time and whenever I finish Okami, first.

Christmas, maybe. Other games have my attention/future money right now.
Like PSU.

Okay, seeing that I finally completed Okami earlier this morning, I was able to obtain FFXII--which was another of my more anticipated titles this year or I should say this gen.
Anyway, I'm really early in this game. How early, I'm playing as Vaan and I still don't have a party yet, so I haven't got into the gambits system. Basically, I'm just getting used to the battle system, and trying to hunt this one mutant wolf for bounty(it's called Therax-something), though it seemed quite challenging and stupid to take it(along with its wolf cronies) head-on, using Vaan.
Question, should I wait 'til I get a party to attempt to take it down again or should I just level Vaan up seeing as he's only on Level 3 in my game? Oh, but do enemies gain levels as you level up like how it was in FFVIII? I ask because the wolves in the Western desert seem tougher than the Eastern ones.
I like the fact that there are no random enemies in this game and I hope they continue with this in FFXIII and future FF to come.

You might as well just move on with the story if you haven't even had your first party yet. You'll be able to wrangle someone in to help you if you do that.

I would play it if it was out here and if I still had a ps2, maybe at a friends next year.
Also I get kind of sick with the whole always in the past feel with wooden boats and all, it's one reason why I would prefer to play FFXIII without looking at the nextgen part of it first.

I'm pretty far into the game now and I think its pretty good. It doesn't keep my attention like FFX did, but its still a solid game. I'm probably just starting to grow out of videogames or something. I like the new battle system for the most part but its really hard to have a dedicated magic user because MP counts are so low. For example: compare Penelo's MP to that of Lulu's and you'll see that you just can't use as much magic. I really don't have much else to add right now.

Actually, magic seems to cost much higher than in previous FF games. For example, Cure 1 used to cost 4-5 MPs, but in this game it uses 8 MPs. Guess it's because you actually auto-regenerate MP in this installment.

Okay, one thing that it annoying about this game is that seeing that I don't have a party, after Penelo left, it make you an easier target for the tougher gangs of enemies--even if you attempt to flee. Right now, I am in the Lowerton Sewers, and I got wiped out by this gang of stronger fish enemies. It sort of sucks when you have a limited amount of skills and enemies just don't drop money this time in this game.

Well they should be dropping loot (like pelts and stuff) at least, right? As for those tougher fish enemies, aren't those non agressive anyway? Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong ones but when I was in the sewers for the castle infiltration I was only actually attacked by Bats and rats.

Oh about the loot, should I sell it all or do I need to save it? like water of fire stones?

All I know that the teleport stones are the only loot that is important so far, and I finally got me a party and I'm starting to get used to the Gambit system.
While I'm enjoying the game so far, I can safely say that this is one of the more inaccessable FF games of the franchise. If you are new to RPGs then, I really wouldn't reconmend this installment.

Well, it is a good thing we are discussing FFXII and not Xenosaga.
