2007 = 2 months after Wii launch. This is insignificant, it doesn't matter.

2007 = 2 months after Wii launch. This is insignificant, it doesn't matter. But that means games like Call of Duty 3 won't have online while they have online on Xbox Live and PlayStation's online thing. That's gonna hurt sales.

It's a little stupid but I wouldn't call it too major.

I doubt there are people who can afford a PS3 AND a Wii, and a few games having slightly delayed online cappability isn't going to sway anyone more that a 400 dollar price difference.

DS Wifi didn't immediately launch when the DS launched.
Xbox Live didn't immediately launch when the Xbox launched.
Seganet didn't immediately launch when the Dreamcast launched.
Etc.
Seriously, not that big of a deal.

You mean with the PS3? ...you seriously think Sony will have more than 20,000 units out by next year? Really?

Seriously, not that big of a deal. Of course all three didn't have competitors that heavily promoted their online gaming capabilities. Also, I like how some people say it is not a big deal when EA games like Call of Duty and Madden are actually huge sellers. I don't think this would affect the Wii's Christmas sales itself, but it could affect its third-party gaming sales and possible future relationship with certain third- party companies if people pass over these titles' versions. Also some people here are discounting the Xbox 360 which is much cheaper than the PS3(which would sell buttloads anyway thanks to Chrismas Consumer Whore-ism), has a decent online gaming setup, and is also home to many EA's franchise also. But who knows, maybe Wiimote abilities will be a big seller to Joe EA-fan than playing online on stronger hardware. It's possible that Nintendo is also working out the kinks on it's online service, but they will have to play catch-up with the X360 and PS3.

I don't really see this as a big deal. It's free anyway, so I think everyone should stop bitching. It'd be one thing if they delayed it then made you pay a monthly fee.

A boneheaded decision is deciding not to support online. Which they are not doing.
So your testimony is clearly false!

This news has been questioned significantly, as well. One of the things Nintendo said during E3, for example, was that they designed the Wii so that developers didn't have to worry about network adaptor protocols and all that, that sort of thing was going to be built in, and the games simply had to request it.
I don't know, maybe the first batch will be missing it, but I think at least one or two will have it from the start, and the Virtual Console/online store stuff will probably be up-and-running.

Yeah, they only said third-party, anyway Which begs the question, if this should be taken literally, what the hell is Nintendo putting out with online before 2007?

Wii Sports, maybe? Twilight Princess Wii was supposed to have some online content, too.

I just don't think it's going to be a big issue. The PS3 is not going to launch without a hitch. I mean, come on. It's a Sony launch!
So basically the Wii will only have to play catch up with the 360 -- which they're going to have to do anyway. They'd probably be screwed regardless if it was a monthly fee like the others anyhow. Since it won't be (I guess?), I really can't see a little delay as something that's going to stop the gravy train.

Well see, they both release yearly updates of the same games, rely on TV/Movie IPs, and the public eats them up, I can't even tell the difference. XD XD XD

Actually, this is intriguing. I mean, I guess the servers for third-party games aren't set by Nintendo, so I don't see how could they have any control over this, no? I don't get it...
