I don't mind small little plots like that, it's these big ambitious plots they've been trying to pull off in the new 3D games that have all ended up falling flat on their face. Sega should just stop trying to make the Sonic series so epic story wise and just concentrate on what counts: how fun it is.
This is another reason why I hope they get Secret Rings right, by just concentrating on what people really want from the series, and not trying to cater for the Final fantasy crowd at the same time with ugly human characters that you couldn't care less for.

Secret rings won't be good.

For such a clever story, it, Sonic Rivals, and Sonic Rush seems to contridict each other. But at the end of the game the actual story from the game never happened...so it can't contradict anything if it never actually happened.

But it does confuse where Blaze CAME from. If 2k6 is completely "erased", then she still mainly lived in the future. If after-effects happened because she was teleported (if she didn't die) before Iblis was completely stopped (and supposedly Silver is looking for her without being sure what he's looking for in Rivals? I need to read spoilers on that game or something), then for Rush to work, it makes the most sense for Blaze to have also transported in time BEFORE the events of Sonic Rush, I.E. that initial teleport shifted her to the "present". Eggman Nega is a dimensional counterpart to Eggman, after all, not a descendant. Or at the very least, 2k6 never mentions or shows him. Perhaps he's a descendant in the alternate dimension, but I don't think they intended it like that.
It's quite possible that 2k6 is supposed to be a rewrite of Blaze, who she is and where she came from, but the ending to Silver's episode and the ambiguity of the final resolution just throws everything out of whack. Sonic Rivals confuses things further, but partially because I don't know exactly what goes on in Sonic Rivals, only what I've heard. (And even _that_ changed from the initial plans, we know that.)

Ah, I was wrong to some degree. Upon reading the Wiki it seems now that they're set on the idea that Blaze and Eggman Nega are from the future, and that he is a descendant. Still messes things up. Why is Silver looking for her in the present, unless HE'S the one stuck for some reason? Are the Sol Emeralds what the Chaos Emeralds adapt into? Otherwise, why would she and Eggman Nega know eachother in Sonic Rush? Where did she get teleported to, or if she DIDN'T get teleported, did Silver get stranded in the past because "End of the World", even though it now shouldn't have happened? I know I'm making it harder that it has to be, but it's the details that get you, agh. And apparently there was a pink tracksuit in Sonic Rivals that didn't make it out of development.

He's not searching for Blaze, he never met her. He came in answer of a distress call, which turned out to be Eggman Nega.

How do you know he never met her? And he time traveled for a distress call?
