Gizmondo Europe bankruptIt appears it's gonna be a Sony vs Nintendo competition. This and Tapwave's Zodiac go for broke while Nokia's N-Gage went nowhere. I feel sorry for all the poor saps who bought that. It wasn't even sold where I live, so I never got the chance to check the system out.

I don't recall seeing the Gizimodo advertised anywhere, excluding a while back before it was released (whenever that was) sponsoring a programme on Channel 4, I haven't seen them for sale anywhere in the UK or in the US on holiday, and I haven't heard of a single game on it. Also, it has bizarre symbols for it's button names rather than A,B,C or even shapes like the Playstation systems, so writing down cheats for it's games (whatever they are) would be like writing in some ancient language. At least the N-Gage had some known franchises on it's line-up, even if they mainly GBA ports.
To be honest, who in their right mind would have bought it? It was a guaranteed flop from the very beginning. Unless your already a big company who has enough money to fall back on, you just can’t release a console or handheld and expect it to have any impact on the market whatsoever. The only reason N-Gage’s are still out is because Nokia has a lot of dosh, but even that hasn’t saved it from being a disaster.

...Oh yeah, the Gizmondo...I think I saw one of those when I was at Harrods when I was in England a few months ago...I remembered hearing about that...once...and promptly dismissing it as a guaranteed failure.
