I need to read the random issues I've been able to pick up lately. I just wish they wouldn't keep recycling some of their... less than promising artists because they're cheap. :/
The one in the scan looks alright, though.

That's Tracey Yardley. He draws most of the primary stories since Ian started writing. Back-up stories are usually drawn by some random artist.
I've started picking up torrents of Sonic just to sample what Ian's doing with the book. 165, 166, 167 and now 168 (he started at issue 160 I believe, but finding working torrents for those were hard). He's a really good writer. This scan in particular is from 168. Outside of a fight scene that was a bit of a letdown in 167, he seems to be batting a thousand with Sonic as far as I'm concerned.
The comic is totally worth reading again.
168 really cleans a lot of house. Seriously, there's a ton of astrick'd panels where it's like "SEE SONIC 156" "SEE SONIC 142". There's five of them on one page because they basically tie all of Ken's dangling threads together.
The back-up story for 168 is REALLY sad, too. And handled really, really well.
I just wish they'd give Ian more room to write. His stuff is paced wonderfully, but the portions are really meager and short. Makes the wait for next month's issue excruciating.

What's a true shame is that Dubbs had to give it up before Penders went and Ian got into full swing. Together the book would've been turned up on its ear. But glad to hear Ian's doing a good job as it is.

The current artist seems to overexaggerate expressions. Better than expressionless characters, I guess.
(I swear, there are two kids at my school who live in the Uncanny Valley. It's rather unsettling.)

Why does Issue 172 looks like the cover of a celebrity gossip magazine?
That page at the top doesn't make any sense.

I believe it's called a Parody, Gaga. A poorly excuted parody that would put anyone off picking up the darn thing because the colours makes anyone's eyes bleed? The art is nice, but Archie Sonic still appears to be like some odd fan fiction.

Something's not right about the 171 cover. I think it's how Shadow is picking up a really fat guy with just...the folds? :S (And Sonic looks like he has his focus on something other than Shadow + Eggman)
