I was perfectly fine a few crappy Sonic games being released now and then. Heck, I was even fine with the addition of guns and vehicles to the series (vehicles had been used in the oldschool games every now and then and guns are pretty cool).
But that GBA port of Sonic 1, man. That just... that did something to me. I'm honestly ashamed of being a Sonic fan after playing that.
I'm not super depressed or anything, since my life is awesome and filled with boobs and stuff, but part of me seriously just died today.

Well, at least Secret Rings can still give us hope.

...you're kidding, right? Yeah, Secret Rings looks AMAZING, MAN. Sonic Heroes is where the series ended for me. Plotwise, Sonic Adventure 2. Rush and Riders are "post-mortem tributes". Yes I didn't think Riders was horrible Not great but not horrible. Anyway, yeah, after Shadow I lost faith in the franchise and I thought maybe 2k6 would turn out okay, but between this and Sonic 1 GBA, Sega just doesn't care. I'm with Keith all the way. Maybe this is why I've felt bummed out--my dad and I have been playing the classic Sonics all week--we're gonna finish up Sonic 3&K and then do CD. After seeing all this, something feels...empty inside of me. I grew up with the guy D: My dad put me on video games in hopes it'd fix my...challenged hand-eye coordination. And IT DID INDEED, after some time. I looked up to him, whenever I watched him play the classic Sonics and Marios. I'd always wince when he died, but he always get through them. I'd always tag along as Tails, sometimes getting in his way somehow, and I think our most memorable time together playing video games was when we beat the giant Death Egg robot guy together. He was there when I beat Sonic 3&K all by myself, too. Now we're playing through today and it just feels so bastardized. With Sonic Heroes, yes, many say it sucked, but you could tell, in all those interviews with the guys making it, they truly intended to make up for the huge lack of games that came, and said "okay, guys, we're going back to our roots, we're really gonna try and do something a little traditional this time". After that flopped, it seems like they just gave up. Now they've just done nothing short of raping Sonic's good name into the ground. You can rape into the ground now, by the way. BUT THIS IS A NEGATIVE OPINION AND THAT'S WORTHLESS SO I SHOULD GO FROM THIS BOARD

*whacks you with a frozen trout*
Never confuse this board with Gamefaqs ever again.
and i think secret rings has a chance to be problematic too even if people thought the demo was fun. they said the same thing about sonic heroes which didn't flopp sales wise
i have a feeling though that sonic gba, sonic rivals, and sonic 2k6, will be the flops saleswise, at least i hope

Sonic and the Secret Rings looks pretty fun for an arcade game.
I keed, I keed. I'm actually looking foward to it, but only because it has dinosaurs in it.

Arcades need to come back in the U.S.
Granted, I'd probably never go to one because I have no transportation but still.

Sonic and the Secret Rings looks pretty fun for an arcade game. That actually could be good news seeing that Sega is still successful quality-wise in the arcades and making arcade-like games.

Um, there's like three arcades within 5 miles of where I am. Although I'm probably missing the point..

yea but when was the last time there was an arcade game worth playing where the home version wasn't easily rentable? now it's all DDR and those kind of games. And usually 1 or 2 gun games like Area 51, which 8 year olds enthusiastically play while their parents are oblivious.
Whatever happened to the good old days when there was Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition and it's 400 clones from SNK?
