Who cares? That's stupid. Many of the words we use in frequent speech used to be "innovations" back in the day. "Impactful" seems to work pretty well, I don't see why you should replace it - but, anyway, I think the official alternative is "striking" or something like that, I guess, but they are only partially synonymous...
