Ever since I've my freshman year of high school, I've sort of lost that cheery Christmas feeling that kids get around December. That makes me sad, because December has always been my favorite time of the year because of that feeling. I mean... the scent of a Christmas tree or a familiar Christmas tune can sometimess summon up some nostalgia, but other times I have to force it and it just doesn't feel right.
It sort of depresses me and I think that if it's this hard to feel that Christmasy feeling again, will it eventually dissappear as I get older? Will December just be another month of the year?
So, yeah... As September's closing and December is inching ever closer I'm hoping maybe the Central California fall weather (overcast and rainy) and maybe a cup of hot cocoa will stir up some feelings.

Well, is Christmas just a time by yourself? I think Christmas only really works well if you have people you care about who all get together and celebrate Christmas. In other words, if you make someone feel good as well as have someone who makes you feel good. Right now I can still utilize my family for this, for example.

I hate holidays. People expect too much of me.

Okay, this happened to me a few times. Especially during those winters where it doesn't snow until New Years. But anyway we haven't hit Halloween yet so it's okay if you're not feeling it. Anyway, a lot of it just has to do with making time. I mean there's all that school BS, jobs, when it's time to relax you might just do what you do the rest of the year to relax. You need to make sure to watch a couple of stop-motion specials. Have some Eggnog. and just make an effort to festivate yourself.

I will hopefully get that Christmas feeling if/when I get a next-gen system this holiday.

Christmas for me always means dozens of relatives in the same house. That feeling rarely changes.

Haha. I know it's only September. But I was just thinking. It felt different last year and when Christmas was gone it was like, "...that was it?"
Plus, my family really gets into Christmas. So much, even, that we start early. Usually we start listening to Christmas tunes around mid October.
I suppose it would have something to do with less family members, Genus. In the last few years one of my uncles moved, taking my cousins with him. And another uncle got a divorce, which means those cousins aren't with us on Christmas. I mean, last Christmas the only kids at the family get together were my siblings and I. I guess it sort of feels... empty. I dunno... I'll try a few things you guys mentioned. I haven't watched Rudolph or Frosty in forever.

To me, "Christmas feeling" as a kid meant "no school, presents and candy", which is cool. Eventually it ended up meaning "no university so I barely move from my chair and I don't see this girl I like, what the hell... well, at least I get presents and stuff." I don't know. I'm not Christian anyway.
