I didn't think that Tiara demo was looking great either...

The Tiara thing was just a concept design that was being kicked around... it is more possible she would have been given her own sprite set in the final version?...
I liked the look of the older totally 3D Sonic concept... it would've played badly in itself, but it LOOKED cute. Sonic looked a tad deranged =D.

Well, I wasn't specifically talking about the character in my last post but the level concept, which looked kind of lacking...

That's the ugliest sprite render of Knuckles I've ever seen. It even beats Sonic Blast rendition of Knuckles.

If he were less shiny...
I disagree with Sonic Blast though. That entire GAME was crap-looking... at least this one actually had some animation.
Though it was funny when Game Pro called Knuckles a two-tailed fox for Sonic Blast. Those were the days...

I dunno. That Knuckles only looks ugly when you look at him from the front. From the side he looks fine, I think. Just too damn shiny.

Like when they later waxed the characters in Sonic Adventure DX... oh, Xtreme, you were ahead of your time for the shiny! You shiny, shiny mammals~... well, monotreme in Knux's case. Meh.
The new music rocks though. I am having fun listening to it. Whoo!

From the front/back, that's a hideous Knuckles. Other than what seems to be a lack of colour, it seems fine.

Funny thing - Knuckles kinda looks like a running toy.

Yeah, because all this stuff is finished product and not in any way concept art designed to help give ideas and would not in any way have been refined to a better product, such as the 3D rendered sprites of Sonic that we've all seen. Obviously Chris Senn is the only artist who did work on this project and his work he's showing us here would have been the final say in this game that never got finished.

What, we can't say this concept art is ugly?

Psst, Angst, monotremes are mammals, they just aren't placentals.

What, we can't say this concept art is ugly? Well that was aimed more at the 'Sonic Xtreme sucks' end of things. Yeah, saying the concept art is ugly is ok, but keep in mind it's expected to be ugly. So a lot of us sort of ignore it. Concept work is usually not that great looking. It's the stuff that gets made into the stuff that's great looking. And with a game like Xtreme, there's going to be a lot of ugly stuff. This is the stuff that never gets publicized, mostly because of how unattractive it is. But I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the concept work for just about any game is stuff like this. Ugly, unfinished, somewhat clunky concepts that through teamwork and determination get worked into something much better.
