Okay, everybody else on the internet is an idiot. I need an important matter settled... Rockman X2. I recently got all three X cartridges for a marvelous deal. X and X3 work perfectly.
However, X2 has issues. The 3D spinning X logo is made of a few scattered white lines and the entire thing slows way, way down. The 'Rockman' lettering gets lines through it. Otherwise, it works okay, but I fear the CX4/C4 chip is shot. The startup trick for checking the chip says it's fine, but I don't know =\. Anyone had an X2 or X3 chip burn out or has tried importing X2? I ran it through the Genie AND through a cheap beat-up SNES I took the top off of with no change.
Oddly, the topless SNES WILL run the one random game I don't know the name of that hated the Genie just fine.
Do I need to bug the dude I bought it from for a refund, or does it just hate my setup?
Not General D'd because it's a freaky niche MTS topic. That, and it opens discussion of topless SNESes.

Alot of X2 relies on that crappy 3D rotatyness, such as (guessing with some of these) the intro 3D head, the sword mid-boss, a certain bridge in the desert stage, Serges's rotating jump animation, and sigma's final form.
What a bummer.

I know that, but considering the same chip is used in X2 and X3 and 3 has no issue with my machine, is X2 busted? You just gotta let me know.
Should it stay or should it go D=?!? Basically, do I need to bitch for a return?

So you think it's defective, too? I just want a somewhat solid argument other than "the 3D doesn't work when I play it on a system I shouldn't D=!". It SHOULD work, right? The hardware's near identical...

My copy of X2 has worked fine since the day I got it.

What region is it, though? I just need to make sure the 3D being whacky isn't just a side effect of trying to play the SFC one on an SNES. This is so irritating, but at least one failure is better than having them all be whacky. I just don't know if buying an actual SFC unit would help or not!

Hot jiggity! The dude will exchange it for me less my own personal shipping cost. It'll be soooo much to ship a Super Famicom game D=!
So I'll find out if my system is crazy, or if my 'busted' opinion is justified.
If not, at least X2 US is cheaper than X3 =(.

It really doesn't make sense that your system would be busted when X3 works perfectly fine. I agree with the 'busted cartridge' opinion.

Yeah, it's been sent back. For $4 it's worth at least trying to get a non-busted copy.
The topless SNES is topless no more! I shaved the little tabs off the inside of the unit, so it's dandy to go. Technically it should be able to play anything, amirite?
