Yes indeed.Apparently this person was using an automatic bidding program that bids for him to ensure he wins the auction, and somebody played a prank on him by bidding $5,000.

See, the thing is, automatic bidding programs are useless because of the very way eBay works. You enter the highest amount you're willing to pay, and eBay automatically raises your bid for you until either you're winning or the price goes higher than that. If you then go back and enter a higher bid, then you didn't enter the most you were willing to pay in the first place like you were supposed to.
Guy has only himself to blame.

What if two people had automatic bidding things? That'd be hilarious.

What if two people had automatic bidding things? That'd be hilarious. It would be cool if ebay went down because of the bid reaching an amount of a number of digits superior to the capacity of their server's hard disks

eBay would be forced to self destruct.

I wonder what that guy'll do with his $5.1k. What would anyone do with $5100 made from the stupidity of humanity? It would be so funny to spend it, and the stuff would always remind you of that fool.

I hate people with automatic bidders. I seem to always win, though. Those Furbys were mine!!
