Anyone else going to see this movie? I went to the first previewing at 12 midnight tonight with my friend Kristen and the I thought it was excellent. Albeit, they did remove a bit from the book, but otherwise it was very enjoyable.

The topic title sounds half-sarcastic. :P Yeah, saw it, I enjoyed it, although I thought Harry was rather hesitant to point out at first the issue. Maybe he didn't want to make a scene, eh, I don't know.
What's amusing is I saw the trailer for Kong beforehand, and I just thought that it had the same problems looking back on the old versions do, the effects look like fake things added in. Some clever points involving real people, but the T-Rex, Kong, they all look like fake elements. But in this movie, even though many of the effects are intentionally stylized, they still generally look fluid and like what one might see in a reality like that, so they really keep that fourth wall strong better than the Kong movie looks like it will.
I was in a line for several hours beforehand, got a lot of Mario Kart DS online in, thanks to the theater's free WiFi. Naturally, I won my first match, then proceeded to completely suck every match afterward. Even played a bit while waiting in the theater itself for the movie to start. Line people were generally... I don't know, a bit more slacker-y/annoying than last HP movie, and while I was in the theater, some girl sitting nearby "mooed" at me at random. I took a second to process because I had to register 1. If it was indeed directed at me, 2. What was said, because I couldn't hear it very well, and 3. The remote possibility that it was the same person who mooed at me last night on AIM, Jamie. :P (Not likely, but it was a coincidence.) The girl took this as a sign to start rambling in a way that quickly defined her personality type (not nervously, not mindlessly, kind of... not specifically sarcastic. Can't describe it.) Later on she took up talking to the rest of my family there, and it was just one of those situations where if you actually said, "Look, just go away, be "zany" elsewhere," things would've gotten ten times worse. She even briefly spoke to us after the credits. I don't mean to talk badly about someone "behind their back," so to speak, but it was just like, "What... the hell."
So yeah, good movie.

I'm kind of surprised there's been as little fanfare as there has for this movie. I hardly even knew it was out today.

ku: Fandango is hello awesome.
Oh, did you get that feeling that the audience was pretty much being rushed through the scenes? It seemed to me like everything was like "oh, we have to do this" then BAM, that's what theyre doing next.

Yeah, I know the movie had to be a long one, but it really did seem to zip by when more could've been fleshed out. Probably would've added exponentially to the film's cost, though.

So, Kulock, it was a bad change from the last time you went with the girls in skimpy outfits? =P
My girlfriend wants to see this movie, so I'll likely be dragged into it as usual.

saw it at midnight, loved it, favorite movie of the Potter series so far (favorite book being Order of the Phoenix)
I was really pissed when my friend complained about there not being enough in it, I found it to be perfect, there's nothing that I want to see added. And I really wouldn't care for extended dvd. (well yeah I'd buy it but it probably wouldn't be my favorite). My friends seem to think that they shot the whole book and just whittled it down to 2 hours and 30 minutes and don't stop to think that it was planned out before they even started shooting.
I think Hermione got a chance to shine a lot and she's my favorite character so I was happy with that.

See, that's the thing though. I don't really watch much TV period - I watch three TV shows a week, pretty much (LOST, Invasion, and Boston Legal). That's more TV than I watched back when, say, Prisoner of Azkaban or Chamber of Secrets was coming out, and there was TONS of fanfare for those movies. Unavoidably so. This has seemed to be relatively quiet, in that reguard. There's no "unavoidable fanfare". Nobody I know has been talking about it, I've seen maybe three commercials... it just doesn't feel like there's the buzz behind it as there used to be, really.

I'm not sure if I'll see it or not. They really destroyed "Prisoner of Azkaban", so I have my doubts about this movie. Then again, I hated the book itself..maybe they improved it with the movie.

I did a Harry Potter/Walk the Line double header on Friday. I was not disappointed.

First of the series I actually bothered to see in theaters. Felt that Emma Watson's perfomance was a bit stilted, but otherwise it was nifty.
