Blaze, JC 1 was TEH AWESAME. How the hell many monster games have you played where cross-bred monsters literally become hybrids? They change shape, mang! Drak... you can't really compare the two, because they operate on drastically different levels. In JC2, your monsters (late in the game, up to eight) are arranged on a wheel system, one each side of which can only use a certain element for attack (fire, wind, water and earth). Monsters which know two skills (fire/earth or fire/wind, for example) can be placed on a cusp of the wheel. Merging beasties is TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Your tiny freak will not change its shape, but will simply learn a new skill or boost its stats. Leveling only goes to level 20, at which point a merge must be made. If you merge with a beastie of the same species, it fills its evolution gauge more, which lets it grow into new forms. It takes a hell of a long time to reach the fourth growth stage I have a couple at the third stage. Basically you wander around the Wormhole Forests, where all the monsters from the first game have been banished. Some have mutated, while others have been trying to adopt human form to escape and wreck havoc on the world. So Levant formed the Beast Hunters, who use divine beasts hatched from eggs to combat the divine beasts which are being a pain. The main character HAS to get the Forest Orbs, because a bitchy fairy accidentally cursed him, and his dark side will assume control of his body if it is not expelled with the orbs. ZOH NOES. It has crappy voice acting, so I turned it off. Kahu sounds so damned much like a freakin' Pokemon TV character. I think his hat restricts bloodflow to his brain, if indeed he has one. Basically the game operate differently enough that I cannot directly compare them. Personally I like the original more, but the second one is good in its own right. Levant's a hippy XD!
