A lot of kid's TV shows don't even have plots. They sometimes have the first episode introduce some things, and then random stuff afterwards. Examples: Rocko's Modern Life Angry Beavers Invader Zim Just about every cartoon ever
Hell, it's that way with most sitcoms if I'm not mistaken.

Angry Beaves was going to have an end episode where Norbert has to convince Dagget that they are all in a cartoon, but this went against Nick's policy of not letting the kids know when a show has ended.

Mighty Max had an awesome loop/explanation. Things basically went badly and Skullmaster was starting to win (and as it had been played up in the series, his guardian, who's name I'm blanking on, died offscreen, and I think Vergil might've too), but Max managed to get ahold of his power (always within him, yadda yadda) long enough to where it kicked things back to the beginning of the series, but with him remembering some of what happened. So it explained syndication/repeats in a way, even though there was never a truly "good" ending, just the potential for one. (Or a completely new season with different adventures if they wanted to take that route.)

The Dragon Ball series had an ending, until it went into GT. Before you argue that the series isn't actually a kids show, the show became mauled in a 4kids like fashion, thus making it appropriate for all ages.

Dragon Ball has an overarcing plot. And it's an anime. It's a bit different with something like that...

I mean, there were TWO AWESOME ways to end the series in the Freeza and Cell sagas, and they decided to end it mediocrely at Buu. GT as a series sucked, but it's ending was at least more satisfying. Angry Beaves was going to have an end episode where Norbert has to convince Dagget that they are all in a cartoon, but this went against Nick's policy of not letting the kids know when a show has ended. How the HELL are they gonna end Avatar then?

The question was not about the quality of the ending. The question was whether or not there actually WAS an ending.

One series I remember really "ending" was Pugwall (or Pugwall Summers, its continuation). The band became a success and Pugwall became closer to his younger sister, putting aside their differences. Not hugely original, but a nice way to wrap things up.
Digimon series also had good endings (at least the 1st and 2nd series, even if the 2nd series ended somewhat abruptly and could have been a bit more satisfying. I know there were later series' but since they had little to do with the first two series' in a way they don't count).

I can think of cartoons that had no ending... but not one that had an actual ending...
Heck, did the smurfs ever return from their crystal time/world travel?

I liked Digimon Tamers! Even if it had nothing to do with Digimon Adventure. But still, those are shows with plots, which are different.

Invader Zim had a pretty fluent plotline that was going somewhere in the series.

There isnt much point in mentioning if an anime finished, as just about all dubbed anime is taken from japan after the series has been finished(ignoring recent aquisations like Bleach of course ;p), and most have a coherent storyline that NEEDS to be completed to make any sense, unlike the normal cartoon created for the young'uns around these parts....
The problem is here, most shows run until their popularity runs dry, and when that happens they dont see any point in making enough episodes to bring anything to a close, they just up and halt production...sad times.

Doesn't Disney end all of its cartoons at the 65th episode?

Not with an "ending" episode. (Although I think Hercules had a big flashback episode with him and Meg as adults for the last one.) Aladdin actually lasted two seasons, and was "ended" by the King of Thieves movie. (It could still continue, but realistically, it closed the TV continuity for Disney.)

Well, it DID end up getting one last hurrah with that episode of Hercules that had a crossover when Hades teamed up with Jafar.

Did Gargoyles have a final ending, I don't remember?

Gargoyles technically had an ending, but there were some conflicts with Greg Weisman over ceative control of the series, and there were ploy layouts for more stuff. However it's likely that the series will get full closure in the upcoming comic book published by Slave Labour Graphics. Received an ending in a mini-comic by Jhonen that was published in Nickelodeon magazine. www.badbadrubberpiggy.com/goodies/print/It's better than the show because you don't have to hear it. Most comic book shows receive crappy final episodes. X-Men Evo dropped the cool bishy Apocalypse and went with some fanwanking. He-Man also is left hanging. Transformers: Energon did receive an ending but by the time they had evil green energon gas and optimus growing to planet-size to keep planets from bouncing into each other, nobody was paying any kind of attention. After the movie, I'm not sure there's any reason to continue Kim Possible.
