Robot Power SuitThat's really awesome. On a related note: Ballroom Dancing RobotSo let's get this straight. In the last 2 years, Japan has invented humanoid child-sized robots that can play soccer, Mech-walkers, cybernetic muscle enhancement suits, and now ballroom dancing robots. This is getting a little too much like anime for me.

This is getting a little too much like anime for me. It's the cyclical nature between fiction and reality. With a culture with a large interest in technology, a lot of sci-fi fantasizing comes about. In Japan, this has caused a large amount of Animé with imaginative and advanced machines and robots. This in turn influences the culture in it's interest and direction with technology and robots. So in other words, just like how reality influences fiction, don't be suprised about how fiction influencing reality.

So in other words, just like how reality influences fiction, don't be suprised about how fiction influencing reality. Yeah, before you know it you'll have this Animé freak building giant Mecha, that'll be used as warmachines. YEAH GOOD JOB OTAKON, WE ALL KNOW HOW WELL THAT ONE WORKED OUT :D

Oh man I want one of those suits, I would use it to go on a crime spree, the police would be like "YOU ARE COMPLETELY SURROUNDED" and I'd pick up the police car and smash it into stuff and...
...yeah

Nice to see they have a sense of style. Unlike our skeletal, unloving robots.

The US military has been working on similar things for its soldiers. Not complete mecha suits, mind you, but considerable patches of metal all over our troops to improve their combat skills, such as running, jumping, dodging bullets, and bending spoons. In any case, that is very impressive. That's where all the money goes, if your nation doesn't spend it all on maintaining a military, see?

the mech suit is a great idea. especially for people with leg paralasyis. it's pretty sad that japan is moving so far in with technology and we still have dumbass robots.

Why the hell are Japanese scientists the only ones creative enough to do this stuff? Where are the American guys? You American scientists really suck.

Sofox: You would rather me really swear on a public forum?
American science is underfunded unless it's unquestionably going to make big sales, where as I imagine the Japanese are more willing to take risks when developting new ideas.
Such a project as the mech suit would take a lot of funding, and I doubt any US company is willing risk that much on something that would take a great deal of time to develop into something useful. Unless they just knew that it would make them tons of money in return.
