I'm skeptical, Sega would NEVER agree to a game that ties in with the american comics/cartoons. Mobius? I doubt it.
Anyway, a bunch of minigames? This sounds... I dont know, Sonic Shuffle.
Need more information.

Sounds like a fangame-project.

Apparently, the people involved are fans, but Sega authorised. It sounds ambitious, and pretty cool, be we'll have to wait and see how it turns out.

So it is a fan-game. I predict that it will be on the same level as Shenmue Online assuming if the project ever gets finished.

I have a two word request, no, DEMAND, to this fangame crew:
Consult NetRaptor.
Seriously, do it. Nobody's else has really tried, but less actually done such a fantastic job fusing the universes together and still keeping things mostly canon. I don't even know that she'd be interested in helping, but at the very least her SA adaptations should be read for an example of how to properly do the thing.
All that said, I have an optimistic one word prediction for this: Failure.
(Not that I wouldn't like it to succeed, but inevitably there will be enough purists to whine about it, enough strife in the team, and enough instability in Sega to bring the thing crashing down.)

Mixing universes sucks and shouldn't be done.
This is a horrid idea, btw. A Sonic RPG won't work etc etc.

The closest thing for a Sonic RPG to work would be if it was somehow similar to the Tales and Star Ocean franchises' battle systems.
Also, I predict a Sonic online RPG community to be similar to Go Gaia.

Actually, a sonic rpg could work, if customizations were done like an emerl, except....for more than just an emerl player model.

Question, how are they able to finance this I mean other than the monthly fee? I mean don't they have to pay royalties to Sega and I'm assuming royalties to Sega's biggest franchise doesn't come cheap.

I agree with Neil. This is probably the very worst franchise to take to the MMORPG genre. Sonic games are about moving fast. When you move fast in an online game, it lags.

This is "Official" in the same way the Blue Hedgehog Network was supposedly "official"? Not to be an arse, really, but what qualifies as "officially sanctioned" to him? It just seems like a fan project that they e-mailed a Sega rep about and they said, "Yeah, that's OK." Using names like Mobius (and especially SatAM references) doesn't sound like anything Sega would encourage today, in the addition to the promises of an ORPG, a fan-popular idea, but not an easy thing for a company to do, and with big names like Microsoft cancelling MMORPGs because of the lack of growth in the market...
Hey, I'd really like it if they delivered, honestly. But it just sounds like grandiose fan promises that they just won't be able to deliver on successfully. I don't fault them for dreaming or wanting to brag about their big idea, but I don't really know about them pulling off an ORPG, or how well their Sega approval would stand up once someone else from the company sees it, or that same person sees it further along.

Since I don't think it's been linked, Panovation's site is here. According to MagicBox There's "hidden stuff" in the source: <!-- Congratulations on finding the hidden information! Now, can you decipher the rest? (Free Speech is Source Code), we will have the website up and running with information, and media of our projects. Thank you for your patience! --> <meta name="description" content="Panovation Studios is about to innovate the world with new styles of gameplay, software, and technologies."> <meta name="keywords" content="panovation, studio, studios, panovation studios, pinchy, adventchores, pinchy's adventchores, iweb, sonic, hedgehog, social, center, blue hedgehog network, free mmorpg, nakama robot, lands of destiny, lod, arena assault, chronicles of one, sim tactics, samurai panda, samurei panda, mandy, the other guy, having a beachy day, tbhn, sonic the hedgehog, blue hedgehog, network, blue hedgehog network, sonic mmorpg, sega, nintendo, innovation, mobius, neptune cup, arrie, chaos drive, gba, gameboy, gameboy ds, playstation portable, psp, nintendo revolution, xbox, xbox 360, cellular, pocket pc, nintendo, microsoft, sega, sonic team"> <style type="text/css"> They mention Blue Hedgehog Network. www.thebluehedgehog.com/I'm not exactly sure what was there, I was just going along with Kulock's point that this ORPG doesn't appear to be actually official, it's just a fan project trying to sound like it's professional. Which isn't bad, mind, it just doesn't mean it carries quite the weight a truly official project would. The Blue Hedgehog Network's site confirms this: it became Panovation.
