... damn...
They must've cut out 80% of the whole book. A lot of the stuff they cut out was also very important for the plot of the Order of the Phoenix.

Yeah, well, you try cramming that much material into 2 1/2 hours. :/

Funny, I just watched it today and thought they did a very good job at cutting out stuff. I mean the only thing I really remember being cut out was the Dobby related stuff with SPEW, the actually Quidditch World Cup Match, and the beggining of the book with Harry at the Dursleys.

Funny, I just watched it today and thought they did a very good job at cutting out stuff. I mean the only thing I really remember being cut out was the Dobby related stuff with SPEW, the actually Quidditch World Cup Match, and the beggining of the book with Harry at the Dursleys. They also cut out most of the lessons they had with Mad-Eye Moody, a few meetings with Sirius, the majority of the drama with Rita Skeeter basically spying on Harry and Hermione (the end of which is important for the plot advancement of OotP), a whole character, a small caper where Malfoy gave Hermione huge teeth and the kiss Hermione gave Harry in the end.

Yeah, that's pretty much what my friend was saying after we saw the movie. Personally, I haven't read the book in a couple years, so I couldn't really remember. One big thing they missed, though, was the thing with the gilly weed, or whatever. In the book I think Dobby gave it to Harry, but in the movie Neville gave it to him. Weird.

I think the movie creators were just tired of Dobby.

Dobby is very annoying.
I really like how stupid all the kids were in that movie. It was like "lol we're teenagers" the entire time. It made me very happy.

Cutting out the real meat of the Crouch subplot was the worst omission they made, I thought.

I agree. Roger explains it well enough in here: www.deviantart.com/view/26373210/Aside from that though... the whole SPEW thing, I think, was really not -that- neccesary, nor was the whole bit with "lol Hermione has buckteeth". I'm halfway through reading Order of the Phoenix now, and very much fear the next movie. c_c;
