I like Daron singing. It brings more depth to the songs, like another character in a play.
I love Serj's voice though.

It adds depth, sure, but I seriosuly think he's just trying to steal the limelight from Serj quite significantly. Serj really is mainly reduced to backing vocals, which isn't a good thing. Meh, that's just my view.

I don't think he is necessarly trying to steal the limelight from Serj. He wrote these songs afterall, he is just adding a personal touch to them.
Serj still sings the lead on most of these songs. Except for probably Lost in Hollywood, Radio/Video and Old School Hollywood. Serj is still the frontman. Daron is just pulling a Pete Townshend, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Meh, I guess. But still, it's just my personal opinion that Daron fancies himself a bit too much of a singer - but yeah, I totally see where you're coming from.

And Mirai - Malice Mizer scare me. Not because of their appearance, but I heard a few songs of theirs - they was a cool instrumental but the rest was kinda... I dunno, just strange I guess. Meh. Hey, to each their own. I'll admit, there's some Malice Mizer works (their "Memoire" album) that I don't even listen to. Out of curiousity, do you remember the name of the song that you heard or what it sounded like? If you're ever looking for some music, I might be able to point you in the direction of some similar works. Just listening to a few random "M+M" pieces can be awkward as they had about five different phases over their eight years of existance of music composition ranging from frilly love ballads to hard rock with duelling guitars to wacky techno to airy, albeit chilling ethereal to rich, polyphonic neoclassical brilliance and almost everything in between. Unless one listens to their songs on the same album, the songs will probably sound as if they were done by two totally different artists!
Again, though, Smindas, if you ever care to give them another listen, describe the instrumental piece that you heard, and I can get you some similar songs.
And to stay on topic, I'm listening to "Igyou Hime" by Velvet Eden.

Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising Force - Baroque & Roll. So self indulgent, but so awesome.
Mirai: As I recall, it sounded like it was mainly on keyboards and guitar and the keyboard sound had a kind of medieval edge to it, which I quite liked - kind of neoclassical. The other song I heard was strange and although started off well, the vocals really didn't sound that great. But, that's all I can honestly remember about the songs I heard.
I am interested by this hard rock with duelling guitars phase of which you speak though - care to throw a couple song names in my direction and I'll give them another listen?
EDIT: After downloading a song called Transylvania (hey, you sparked my interest, Mirai) I remember why I dislike the vocals - for some reason I find them amusing which doesn't seem to work with the eerie scene they're trying to set. Still, feel free to recommend stuff and I will listen.

Eugh... Not a good first choice. Transylvania is from one of their earlier albums "Voyage ~Sans Retour~." Simply put, "Voyage" is downright frilly and flamboyant. I wouldn't recommend it to someone with your listening tastes, judging from how the vocalists of Demons & Wizards and Iced Earth sound. I'll RAR (Is "raring" something the same as "zipping" it?) a sample of different songs for you and put them up on SendIt.com. If you like anything, I'll rar that song's album (or similar songs if it's a single) and put it in the video game (and apparently anime OST) topic.
And again, to stay on topic, I'm listening to Addictive Epicurean by Schwarz Stein.

Here we go.

Alright, Smindas (and anyone else interested in learning about my world of "different music"), here are some sample songs.
Bel Air ~Kuuhaku no toki no naka de~ Bel Air ~For a moment inside this void~ (Malice Mizer with Gackt) This is Malice Mizer's first song from their album "Merveilles." This song begins with a music box playing softly as clocks tick. However, about thirty seconds into the song, guitarists Mana and Közi break out into powerful riffs with Yu~ki playing a driving bass line. Vocalist Gackt's voice soars throughout the song about being separated in death from his lover. He harmonizes with percussionist Kami in the last verse of the song with a melody that personally sends shivers down my spine. The song is powerful, passionate, and feeling as if flying.
ILLUMINATI (Malice Mizer with Gackt) This is another song from "Merveilles," albeit a much darker and twisted song. It is composed by Közi and is much more synthesizer-driven than Bel Air. The song is harsh and chaotic, and it has a downright freaky music video with BDSM and vampirism galore... I LOVE it! ^_~
Chinuareta kajitsu Bloody Fruit (Malice Mizer with Klaha) This work features Malice Mizer's third singer, Klaha. (Gackt was the second, and I don't speak of the first, Tetsu, as he had a horrid voice that resembles something of a nasally, whiny Cher.) M+M's music became especially dark as they entered a mourning period after their drummer, Kami, had passed away in 1999. Anyway, this is a work from Malice Mizer's last album "Bara no Seidou" (Chapel of Roses). Chinuareta kajitsu is a song that creates a setting of unrest as Klaha sings of chaos, death, and blood...sweet blood.
Shiroi hada ni kuruu ai to kanashimi no RONDO The Rondo of Love and Sadness Driven Crazy By the White Skin (Malice Mizer with Klaha) My personal M+M favorite. "Shiroi" is Bara no Seidou's answer to Bel Air. Mana and Közi break out the guitars as Klaha passionately sings a story of the night. Violins... Harpsichords... Operatic Vocals... The song is nothing short of beautiful.
Beast of Blood (Malice Mizer with Klaha) This is one of Malice Mizer's last singles and one of their most popular. As the name suggests, it is a song about a beast of blood, a vampire, and the lifeforce that compels him. While it is simple in composition (Mana and Közi's guitar lines are mostly unison and are more rhythm-oriented than melody.), its quick transitions from the agitated chanting of "Beast of Blood" to the explosive refrain make it one of my favorites. (I have a feeling that this song is right up your alley, Smindas.)
Monophobia (Moi dix Mois) This is a song by Moi dix Mois the project band of Mana after M+M’s break up in 2001. The song incorporates everything from a haunting, soft, little piano solo to Mana’s new trademarked elegant, gothic death metal with its dual electric guitars, pumping bass, slamming drums (My biggest complaint about MdM as the drumming often tends to be excessive and detracting from the music…), and smooth vocals of Juka. Give the song a try. You might like Moi dix Mois…
Grottesca (Közi, ex-M+M) This is a piece done by Közi after the Malice Mizer split on his album “Catharsis.” Like Illuminati, the song creates a mood of tension and unrest with its synthesizer-heavy rhythms, abrupt guitar riffs, and time signature changes. Vocals are gruff as Közi practically makes love to his vocoder throughout the song. The song is chaotic and grotesque, but it has a unique sound unlike any other. Give it a try…
Addictive Epicurean (Schwarz Stein) To put it simply, I LOVE IT. Schwarz Stein, a duo formed by programming composer/keyboardist Hora and “Queen of Decadence” vocalist Kaya, perform darkwave music with a motif of “Digital Decadence.” They perform a style of music also unique to them through Hora’s revolutionary sounds and rhythms combined with Kaya’s ever-sweet, intoxicating vocals. This particular song, from their final ( ;_; ) album “Artificial Hallucination,” is nothing short of…addicting! Hora’s rhythms brew a song ever-so-tantalizing as Kaya and his compelling vocals draw you into their inner universe where decadence rules over all. I love it, I have it, and I hope that you love it, too.
Again, Smindas (and anyone else interested), give these songs a listen. If there’s anything that anyone is interested in, give me a little “heads up,” and I’ll gladly offer a few of my albums on VJTunes. Until then, may this sampling be enough to tempt your ears for more…
Oh, ja. Right now, I'm listening to a really loud, obnoxious buzz coming from my computer. Me thinks it's time to give the compy a techno-checkup...

Thanks very much Mirai, I've got the .rar downloading right now and I'll give it a listen - it sounds pretty interesting.
And to stick with the topic: White Stripes - Blue Orchid. I usually dislike these guys but this song is excellent and the video rocks.
EDIT: Typo'd.
