Yeah, the actual sound. She doesn't sound.... like someone on Youtube put it... like a troglodyte anymore.

Holy crap, she actually sounds like a woman and not a female trombone.
I don't know why I picked a trombone in particular.

I didn't mind the first sound (but it did sound like a bigger woman singing opera than lithe soldier Celes), but yeah, that does sound better.
...<3 this game so much.

Final fantasy 6, 7 and 8 where my all time favourites 9 also had its charms.
This seems like great news, still after the failure that was Sonic genesis, I fear what may happen when porting a game like final fantasy 6 to the GBA. Like Sonic genesis they may have to edit the soundtrack and sprites, remove animations to work with the GBA’s limitations. Hate to be a killjoy, but some ports never work out. Then again Squire enix are pretty good in there field unlike Sonic Team.
I for one am looking forward to this game. I’m still unsure if some of the new stuff is a hoax or not, only time shall tell.

Well considering the other Final Fantasy GBA ports you should have little to worry about.

Well I took the liberty of looking up the FF6 wiki entry. That’s three sources we have on the game, through nothing mentioned here about any, new characters, through wiki is user edited so who knows. Link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_6

Considering that Sonic Genesis is a total piece of shit coded by monkeys paid in bananas to shit feces on a keyboard the right way and that the GBA should be able to handle Genesis and especially SNES games, I think there's very little to worry about.

Well, considering how good the ports of FFIV and FFV were, I don't think there's much to worry about. And to be clear, the only new tings that were made up were the characters. There are four new espers, a bonus dungeon, and some new equipment. It's all at the Japanese site.

My only concern is the sound. The GBA measly sound chip can't really do the FF6 OST justice. =(
Another reason why I wish this game was remade for the DS instead of the GBA.

well, playing FFV on the DS sounds quite well, so I doubt FFVI would sound that bad

I wonder if it's possible for GBA games to tap into DS's special hardware.
Remember the GBA stores in the Zelda Oracle games? Something like that, except with the sound card.

Unfortunately, no. Nintendo, always paranoid with piracy (perhaps with good reason, but still), basically makes most of the DS hardware "shut down" once everything goes into GBA mode. And it has to have a signal from the DS port or wireless to go into DS mode for a game, the GBA port won't do.
A person who worked on one of the Ty titles for GBA talked about looking into it, no dice.

Well... theoretically, if a GBA "expansion/option pack" is possible to include with DS games to improve them, shouldn't the reverse be possible as well? A simple packed-in DS card with extra software that, when used on a DS, will make a GBA game boot in a "DS shell" wherein improved options would be available?

Still it would not have, been hard to port the game to DS, why GBA anyway?
I’m still unsure about new characters, it would mean editing the story to fit them in, which in turn would alter the canon of FF6. Still it would be great to play FF6 while on the bus or toilet. I just hope the game makes Europe, and if it does, that it does not take 100 years to convert to PAL.

I'm all for the extra dungeon things, since I loved it in 4, but I just hated the "SPLIT THE PARTY UP" parts in 6 because I always found them so frustrating Oh well.

What you found frustrating, I found fun. Especially the battles.
