Not bad, not bad. Still downloading disc 1, but I'm liking this more than Hedgehog Heaven, so far. Incidentally, not to muscle in, but a few days ago I finally made a page on Sepwich for it: blazemp3.sepwich.com/sonic2remastered/Me and Marc's (mostly Marc's) remastered Sonic 2 soundtrack. Some of the tracks here have been redone since the last time I mentioned the remastered S2 OST, and some tracks are still missing, but... yeah. |

Not as much remastered as completely redone. Remastering is when you take the original music and process it. In this case that would be ripping the individual channels using a .vgm or (god forbid) .gym player and improve them using equalizers, compressors, delay and whatnot.

I'm not suuurreee... but I swear you say like the exact thing every time your remix set here comes up in context.  Having said that though, there always seems to be at least one new thing I'm glad to see; Zone Boss is a good addition. For some reason people rarely remix Sonic boss music in ways that are awesome. Or they make stupid piano renditions or something... I WANT IT TO ACCENTUATE THE FIGHT-NESS. Of course, your supplied remix still isn't quite as far as I'd like it to be taken, but at least it sounds decent and not like a rehash of the general MIDIs that float around. (Note: I'm using "you" and "your" in reference of it being promoted by and URL-ly marked as "blaze", but I do realize its combination work with Cinos too, etc.) As far as the old "Hedgehog Heaven"... it was mostly blah, in my opinion. Speaking of boss music, it's boss music was completely wrongly styled. I mean, credit to being different, but it just didn't work so well. With some exceptions, I rather like remakes than just plain remixes. It's like... music communicates in a form of language. And turning boss music into a real quiet, smooth melody is like reading a tyrannical speech as if you were a second grade student up the classroom podium for the first time. Sometimes a reinterpretation works, sometimes it really just doesn't. "Project Chaos'" Doomsday mix here, and even better "Scrambled Eggman", for example, is much more what I'm looking for. Oohhh yeah. Heh, this is something like "Sonic Adventure" styling... |

I love this. This is excellent stuff. I was kind of expecting sub-par stuff, thanks to Hedgehog Heaven, but WOW. This... wow.
EDIT: "Shit" was a bit too harsh a word.
