OKAY so, www.nbc.com/The_Office/ has a super special extended version of last night's episode up on their site, but when I try to view it, it says that I can't watch it from my location. Assumedly, this is because I'm in Canada. How do I trick nbc.com into thinking I'm from America so I can watch delicious Office?

Stop playing hockey, gain some weight and and try not to end your sentences with the word "eh".

Move to the REAL America.
Anyway, due to licensing restrictions and whatnot, NBC has to try to make sure only US citizens watch the stuff. Like Sz implied, they check your IP address and find out which country it's assigned to. You'll have to go through a proxy located in the US to view it.

Firefox: Tools/Options/General/Connection Settings
Manual Proxy Configuration -- and here's where you need to find a US-based proxy, and put the IP and port in the given fields.
I don't recall any good proxy listing sites at the moment (I'm sure a few people here do), but there are more than a few free ones available. Anyway, once you find one that works, you should be able to connect to the internets (probably noticably slower, but not too bad hopefully) and pretend you live... in America.

At long last, I will escape my hard-knock life of conflict diamonds and salt mining and come to the land of opportunity to use its glorious internet.
