I went ahead and ripped the music from Sonic Jump.I think it's definitely worth a listen. Some songs are catchy. Some notes: - Some songs may sound like they suddenly cut off. Not the case, that's how they are in the game and just loop after that. - I'm pretty sure it sounds the same way on all phones; I compared it to the demo on the SEGA Moble site just to be sure and sounds exactly the same from what I could tell. I'm sure Epon can confirm/deny this. But for the record, I recorded the music from a Samsung A950. - The track titles and numbers aren't official, I just named them by what parts of the game they were used for and ordered them by appearance. Enjoy~ I pulled a Blaze. =P

Cool, thanks. Is there a sound test or something like that, or did you just turn off sound effects, or not move?

Well, you have the option of BGM OR SFX, not both. And no sound test, so I just let it sit there for each song.

Ah. Did you rip the Sound Effects, too? There's probably not much, but you could always pass them along to SFGHQ or something. (Or is there a more complete Sonic sounds archive out there?)

I'm downloading the archive now, I'll plop open Jump while I'm waiting, but I can't beat Level 5 ~~EDIT~~ Yes, they're all very similar. I don't know much about what available FM chips are out there for cellphones to use, but I imagine they're pretty similar (or use similar voices)

It's just a Sonic game for the cellphone, Diablo. IIRC, you're just supposed to jump from platform to platform... Spazz/Epon can give you more info.

DH: Released in Japan on whatever carier and over here on Verizon, Sega Mobile released some quirky fun game called "Sonic Jump", which is exactly what the game is all about. You're sonic and have to spring your way up to the top of a sky level on clouds, boosters, etc and fight a boss at the top. Eggman stole chaos emeralds, etc. It's fun and time wasting, perfect for cell phones.
I'm gonna try to redo it in MMF this weekend and maybe do some Vitalize thing

is it any better then the sonic 1 port to mobiles? because that was pretty good compared to sega's gba efforts.

Wow, that music's more complex, and in some ways better sounding, than what I expected.

It's not a platformer, Dilbo. The S1 port to my cellphone is pretty fuckin sick. This game is more of a "I'm bored waiting for a doctor" type of thing.

I just played the Sonic 1 port on my friend's cellphone yesterday. Good grief that game controls like so much crap. Unresponsive controls, SEPARATE buttons for jumping straight up, or at an angle to the left or to the right; the latter of which need to be pressed along with the respective forward or backward buttons to work properly... And the cream of the cake? I was in Spring Yard Act 3, and I got hit by something INVISIBLE and died. Later playing of the same level on an actual Sonic 1 ROM cleared up what I was being hit by... This mofo's sprite wasn't even placed in the game correctly, even though it HIT ME regardless. ò_O

::shrugs::
MY LG-VX9800 handles it great. Where you playing it on a Brew phone? I assumed that they only ported it to Brew stuff, but that might just be the American market... o.o

You need a powerful phone to play sonic 1 well, even the motorola razor's runtime is shit compared to my now 2 year old nokia 7610, what has an amazing runtime, its like a mini pda.

Sorry, got a bit sidetracked by the s2proto craze, but yeah, I've got the SFX as well.Once again, the names aren't official or anything, etc. Also, I think DH is right about needing a powerful phone for Sonic 1, mine runs it great for the most part, but occasionally I won't be able to control Sonic and he just keeps going left.

Out of curiosity, how'd you capture all the sounds? Did you use a 1/8" and plug it into the mic input? Or did you do BlueTooth?

Close, just plugged a 3/32" adapter into the headset port and ran it to the PC's Line In.
