Yes. I think it deserves it's own topic. Via the Japanese Smash Brothers Website, Sora Sakurai - the game's lead director - has announced a new Smash Brothers Brawl trailer will be unveiled on November 3rd at this year's Nintendo World in Japan. The video will reveal even more of the new playable characters - here's hoping we get to see the results of the "what third party character would you like to be in Brawl?" poll; if so, we can pretty much guarantee Sonic to make an appearance. Cleaned up machine translation:

Bastards! How dare they make me wait 3 days!
I can't wait. Even if Sonic isn't in it, I'm still immensely curious who they got.

For the sake of discussion, was Sonic actually that popular in the poll? I heard somewhere that he wasn't as popular as a lot of people thought...

Come to think of it, I do recall a Tips and Tricks magazine article saying he was the most popular choice...

Y'know... could this be related to Sega's "announcement"? Well, I wouldn't be surprised if Sega's new Wii game was revealed at Nintendo World on Friday, too. They did say some time this week.

Cleaned up machine translation: I thought this was a mistranslation and they were really going to show new movies of the currently announced new characters(Snake, Pit, Wario, MetaKnight,ZeroSamus) in action.

Excite's machine translation was "It is the world debut that new characters moves on the game screen."
Babelfish says "As for new キャラ moving on the game picture, worldwide first release!"
Upon cracking open a J-E dictionary, キャラ is...
So yeah. New characters, not new moves.

Just yesterday I went to the website, thinking, "If any news comes out on just this website, will anyone see it?"
Apparently the answer is yes!
Also, Miyamoto himself said something about the possibility of Sonic being in that suggested it, I think. So.

If Sonic's not in it, something went really wrong behind the scenes. They know it's wanted, and both companies seem to want to do it. (Sega wanted him in Melee, even, but it was just too late to do it, especially since the team was rushed to get the game out as fast as they could.)
I think this is showing the new characters actually fighting for the first time (Snake and Wario weren't shown doing any battle moves at all, for example), but they'll probably also show some more of the returning characters polished up to the new standard (poor Kirby, that was great), and then tease us about further prospects, rather than just dump them on our laps. Why show Sonic when a spinning gold ring is enough to whet people's appetites, or a Pikmin flower poking out of the ground, et cetera.

Incidently, some mini games (Though understandebly is getting quite over-milked) would be a nice addition, esspecialy as it would put the Wiimote to a use, and see your faverite stars doing utterly wack things

Who wants to switch controllers just for a minigame? SSBB uses the classic controller.

(poor Kirby, that was great) It was adorable. But really, I think we've perfected Kirby rendering technology. I mean, first you draw a circle, then you dot the eyes, add a great big smile, and presto, it's Kirby. Nothing to it.
