online? Meh, I hope this will be a tempoary thing like the WiFi dongle. Also I hope 3rd-parties are offering there Wii componant cables at a much cheaper cost. Also it sucks that GCN component cables are incompatible with the Wii. I'm assuming the GCN S-Video cables won't be compatible either. Bleh.

I'm gonna resist the urge to go "IGNIFOS", but they could be right.

Wait, I thought this was already confirmed. By someone other than IGN.

Still I wonder why Nintendo won't allow retailers to sell them in stores at launch like their competitors? =/

It's a silly decision. It was a bad move in 2001, why they're doing it again, and pretty much just in the US, I've no idea.
Similar cable stupidity, not even the $600 PS3 comes with any video cables other than composite. No HDMI, no component out of the box.

Digital cables still aren't in the majority of homes yet. It's not profitable for Nintendo to estimate how many are needed, package and ship them. A good majority of the market (at least 70%) will still be using the composite cables.
What surprises me is that they're not going to sell Zelda: Twilight Princess for GCN in the stores.

Has there at least been some news that any company will release an S-Video cable for the Wii. Even that is better than the icky composite cable. Wait, what?!

Even that is better than the icky composite cable. Yeah, but a lot of people buying TVs now are buying HD. Those who aren't HD are usually playing on older sets. In the end, it's all about margins. You can't make high margins on component or S-video cables, so it needs to be a high-volume business. They simply can't afford to sell them retail because the sets to play them aren't mainstream enough yet. Sorry, I meant to say "in Japan" at the end there. They're selling them in the stores here, except a few weeks after the Wii launch.

How long ago did S-Video exist on TVs? 10+ years? Was just revealed at Sony's "Gamer's Day." GAF has a complaint thread about it that should be pretty easy to find. Ha ha ha! How totally cheap of SCEA! I mean doesn't the Japanese PS3 packs come with HDMI? Oh well, at least PS2 component cables supposedly works and they are pretty cheap and easy to obtain.
