I remember making a post myself last March wondering what was up with SAGE, at that point me being told it'd be a few months later, as well as annual instead of semi-annual.

I understand that these things happen. I'm not trying to say that you're not including the MC on purpose or anything. I just didn't want to establish some sort of system where SAGE announcements are posted on SFGHQ, and other communities are responsible for disseminating them amongst themselves.
I also understand the circumstances which made it hard to make an announcement. And I understand why it is impossible at this point to push it all back. But despite that, I also understand that you seem to have been working very hard to make it great, which is basically why I just share your disappointment that this somehow fell through. I mean, to be honest, (with no offense to people who run SAGE booths, I'm just trying to be realisitc) knowing the average quality of SAGE contributions, it's unlikely that an early announcement at the MC would have really increased the quality of the entries, but at the same time, increasing the number of entries may have increased the odds for a really great entry. It's just disappointing that, with all that's been put into SAGE this year, it may not be as great as it potentially could have been.
And more personally—And this really doesn't have anything to do with SAGE, so you can skip this paragraph if you want. I think changing SAGE to once a year, and scheduling it for the summer, will probably do a lot to increase the quality of SAGE. It seems to have already. However, I'm worried that since most people only put in a lot of work in the months leading up to SAGE, less work overall will be done on many projects. Especially this year, since many here were caught unaware, we might not have MC'ers putting in any work on their projects until almost a year from now. I don't think this is a problem that SAGE should necessarily solve, and I have no idea how to solve it myself, but I think it's something we should at least try to address.
Having said all that, this notice is far to short for me to participate this year. I mean, I wasn't planning on running a booth this time around, but seeing as I'm going to be really busy during that week, I probably won't have time to go around to all the booths this year. I wish everybody who's taken up the task of running a booth good luck, and I hope this SAGE goes really well.
