....yeah, so, I have Quicktime installed already, but apparently Firefox doesn't recognize the fact that it's there and still states that there's a missing plugin when sites that require said application pop up. Anyone have any ideas on why this could be?

Did you install Quicktime after Firefox?

Yeah, that's why I got this extension that adds an "Open in IE" button to the right-click menu.

Your problem is that Firefox is smart enough to know you don't really want to use an awful program like Quicktime.

Tried it multiple times. Don't seem to work. Says it's 'not available'.

Oh dear lord, how did I miss this topic for so long? I'm sorry Art. You're going to want to follow the instructions here: forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=206216The short story is that both Firefox and YTMND are at fault. YTMND doesn't serve the proper HTML to play a sound, and Firefox doesn't configure MIME types correctly for Quicktime.

I'm guessing I'm one of the few people who don't really mind QuickTime.

!!! THANK YOU INFINITELY SQUIGS. That did it. I think it didn't work because I hadn't set Quicktime to play mp3s, primarily because I'd rather Winamp did that. But Winamp doesn't have plugin capabilities, it would seem. In any case, that resolves the issue. If any of y'all mods want to tend to this as you will, go ahead.

Erm, I had a similar problem, I went to Quicktime, Edit->Preferences->Quicktime preferences. Went to Browser Plug-In on the dropdown menu, then clicked on MIME settings, then selected MP3 in the menu. That fixed it for me.
