(Dunno if this is too fluff-ish or not, so I'll leave it to the mods to decide) this has got be the strangest: I mean, I love the The Original Series and all that, thought William Shatner was great as Kirk... but.. a DVD Club? And, of course, this begs the question: what exactly have we been discussing here that would make this ad show up? DVDs perhaps? That would make sense.. still.. "Discover Great Movies with William Shatner"? The guy must be going loopy.

You think that's bad? I saw a commercial on the History Channel for a special called How William Shatner Changed the World. o.O

Yeah, I saw that too. It's like a mail-order Shatner the way they word it.
Inflatable Shatner?

The man has already had the guts to release what some consider to be the worst album in the world...
...So it's not like he has anything else left to lose.

And he recently sold a kidney stone on eBay. Nuts.
I was considering putting something about the ad up, but I guess I was beaten to it.

Thank you SonKnuck, I'll have to pay more attention to the speel chicken (>.>) *edits*
Anyway.. yeah.. weird stuff..
Kidney stone?? That's just.. ewww...
How William Shatner Changed the World, eh? Hm.. that might be worth seeing, if just for the laughs.
Gotta wonder what's going on in his head, although maybe we'd rather not know XD
Thing is, I think he's not as bad an actor as people make him out to be.. over the top, yeah, but not as bad as some. But stuff like this makes me wonder.
I remember listening to this book on tape.. I think it was his autobiography.. or something more to do with his time on Star Trek.. apparently he was not well liked among the other TOS actors. Apparently James Doohan wouldn't even agree to meet and talk with him.
Meh, if I could meet any of the original cast... well... to meet two out of three, I'd have to be dead, but Leonard Nimoy would be my choice.
Anyway.. weird stuff..

He's become an icon of sorts, almost a parody of himself, but it keeps him moderately popular and in the public eye, when other stars have fallen and collapsed, and people still remember his name...

One of my friends from school has a CD where William Shatner is "singing" some famous songs, and one with Leonard Nemoy is "singing" some famous songs.
It's good to listen to when you need a good laugh.

Is "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" on that Leonard Nimoy one?

Yes. I have the "Spaced Out" collection, combining the best of Shatner and Nimoy (although it was released before he did Rocket Man and the entire Has-Been album... although we do get to hear his hilarious manglings of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and Mr. Tambourine Man.)
Nimoy is a much better singer than Shatner; in fact, he's not half bad. He did a very nice job of singing "I Walk The Line"; in fact, I put his version on par with Johnny Cash's original, performance-wise.
