Since I got ultimately tired with BitSpirit's apparent refusal to give me proper upload transfer rates (5k/s my ass), I decided to give BitComet a shot. Again. Last time I used it, the blasted thing ate my bandwith and my resources as soon as I had my torrent running.
2 versions later, and that hasn't changed.
Since I'm now sure that this isn't a problem on the way the program is coded, I was wondering if any of you know any proper way to configure it (I mean, that's gotta be the problem, right?). Connections per torrent, max/min up/down. Give me everything you've got.

I use BitTornado for my torrent needs. The average rates I would get don't come to me offhand, but it certainly is well above 5KBps.

I use the original Bit Torrent client myself.
It always works fine for me. Doesn't eat resources, and it's easy to close one torrent out. Although it gags when you have more than 4 running sometimes.
I do use Azereus, but only to check for seeds on a questionable torrent.

Okay, no. You see, I appreciate you both giving me your general BT's stats, but I need actual BitComet users to give me this information. I know that a fair share of users here use it (or have used it), and that's why I'm asking here. (I sense that asking in the BitComet forums will only confuse me more) I'm sorry if I wasn't clear before... but that's what I need.

I recommend discontinuing use of bitcomet entirely and switching to BitTornado.

*shrugs* I always set it to the default setting which is:
No Limit to thje Global Upload and Download rate.
And it never gave me any real problems.
EDIT: Also, I've tried BitTornado once and I wasn't pleased with the lack of options of chosing which specific files to download in a torrent unlike BitSpirit and BitComet.

JJ: Both of these problems that I mentioned occur when I'm using the default settings... so, well. Epon: ABC does not have UpNP port mapping nor it has selective downloading, so ABC = Fail. Again, I reiterate, if you're not using BitComet, don't bother replying.

I've always used BitComet. As far as I know, it has some sort of shady downloading trick, which boosts download speeds, at the expense of tracker bandwith. Anyway, BitComet is a huge RAM whore. It's fairly basic compared to Azureus and the like, but it's always been fast for me. I limit upload bandwith to 20kb/s (My max upload is 30kb/s, and considering I share this network with another computer, I consider that fair). I usually run the download unlimited and pause all downloads if I'm streaming something. Try and get a hold of your maximum upload and download speeds (If you don't know them already) and set Bitcomet to limit roughly 10kb/s below both of them. (Uploading to an ftp will give you an idea of your max upload bandwith if you don't know it already.) As for whoring resources, there's not much I can say to that. It's fast, that's the price you have to pay for the speed.

Thanks, Sabator. I seem to have narrowed and nailed down the problem thanks to this bit of information you gave me.
I just noticed that my upstream rate is shit. But the problem here is not on my end (because I too share a connection with another computer). It's the ISP. I'm... baffled as to how can one of the major ISPs here gives you just 20k/s for your upload stream, while on the other hand it toutes(sp?) a 1mb downstream (when it's not even like that either).
Guess I'm gonna have to leave this uploading whenever I'm not using the computer until I find a better ISP (which is doubtful, considering we have broadband monopoly over here, and they're all crap)
Thanks anyway, guys.

20KBps or 20kbps? My ISP gives me ~3mbps (~400KBps) for downloading and ~300kbps (~40KBps) for uploading. So that doesn't sound too odd.

Azureus is great; it configures for optimal setting automatically.

my upload rate is 30Kb/s, so don't feel bad. It's a common ISP trick, and if you want good upload, prepare to be shelling out a lot more for your internet connection. Limited upload is how they can give you the prices they do. Like I said, limit your upload to something like 10-15kb/s, and you can easily run BitComet along with any other internet apps, barring gaming or seperate upload tasks.

Meh, I get ~500KB/s downstream and only ~30KB/s upstream. It's called "whoring".

It'd be all fine and dandy if I hadn't had to share this connection with 2 more computers that also happen to need the connection too. I can't use BitComet without it whoring the connection and leaving the rest of the users here without even being able to go to Google. :/
But, like I previously said, I guess there won't be harm if I use them and let it whore my connection when nobody is using it. So... yeah. Thanks for your help anyway guys.
