Now come on, I'm not exactly excited about next-gen either but I seriously doubt that Sony would even think about selling it for $900 and expect it to fly off the shelves.
...right?

I dunno, people said that about the PS2 and Xbox being $300, and the 360 being it's price and it sold like hotcakes

$300 is a HELL OF A LOT different than $900. You could buy a very low-end car for that.
Also keep in mind that there have been a lot of systems that have come out in the $200 to $300 price range over the last two decades. It's the $300+ that people cringe at.

I really doubt it'll exceed $500, MAYBE $600 for early Japanese adopters.
I think that by the time it's to be released in the US, it'll be at a fairly competitive $399. Microsoft already reintroduced the price point to a console realm that's not delved into costs that high for about a decade, if they had stuck with a $299 or $350 price, it would've made Sony's life just a little bit harder.

Meh, this sound like some speculative BS. Didn't many analysts predict the PSP would be priced at over $300 before the offcial announcement from Sony? I personally predict that the PS3 would be priced at $399USD and maybe slightly over that in Japan(somewhere under the yen equivilant of $450).

If I wouldn't pay $400 for the XBox, I sure as hell won't pay $900 for the PSP3. Their price is gonna have to come down if they plan on selling.
...and damnit, Jolly, your icon gives me the creeps. *shudder*

If only I can find one of those Burger King costumes. A friend and I want to make a horror movie about where he's able to control his victims with birthday crowns.
I really doubt that they'd release the price at $900. With the exception of Sony console fanboys, not many people would be crazy enough to buy it at that price when the other systems are selling for less than half that price.

oh hey, its almost exactly the same shit that was said before the ps2 launch! wheeeeeeee.
this also reminds me of the time in #srb2 when Blaze was adamant that due to the PSP's specs, it would burn your hands to hold it.
oh and if you actually expected PS3 in Spring....lol. As soon as it wasnt playable at TGS, it was pretty obvious Spring was out of the question.

this also reminds me of the time in #srb2 when Blaze was adamant that due to the PSP's specs, it would burn your hands to hold it. I like how: A) I don't even post in the topic and you somehow drag me into it B) You don't understand a joke; I primarily said that because the PS1 had issues overheating, and, after hearing the PSP would use nurbs as it's primary rendering technique (a rendering process which usually requires a heafty amount of CPU), I figured it would be an amusing joke to make. Yeah, way to go on that one.

I don't understand these CPU jokes either :< The faster the CPU is, the more electricity is required to run it. Electricity is heat. Therefore, the faster the CPU is, the more heat it generates. This is why when you buy new processors for your PC, generally it's a good idea to get a new interal fan/heatsink for it, or look into an alternative cooling source (water cooling, etc). Nurbs, generally speaking, are used in the construction of 3D models. Using nurbs, you can make a model appear much more complex than it actually is - sort of like constructing a model out of curves rather than straight lines. Unfortunately, while it reportedly requires less video rendering acceleration to render Nurbs, it requires more primary CPU power (this is what I read, anyway, back during an old old issue of Next Generation Magazine). When the PSP was first unveiled, Sony announced it would use Nurbs as it's primary rendering capability. Thusly, I joked that If the PSone had overheating problems, and the PSP was going to need a heafty amount of CPU to render it's Nurb-generated graphics, then the PSP too, would be like holding the sun in your hands. In all fairness, the assumption wasn't that ludicrious: I've heard of people being unable to set their laptops physically on their lap because they simply get too hot and burn their skin.

Sony's not that stupid. They know doing that will shoo away their fans and everyone will flock to Microsoft or Nintendo. The only people that would pay $900 for it are the hardcore fans or rich people.
Anything over $300 is a risk. Anything over $400 is suicide. Rememeber the 3DO? The Saturn? The Jaguar? Those suckers sold for several hundred dollars and all flopped. (Well, that and several other things...)

Hehe...that's funny... Doesn't quite work that way, Blaze =P Plus, I don't think Sony's dumb enough to release a console that's so expensive, no-one will buy it. (Well, that and several other things...) At least the Saturn came with THREE full games which was roughly a $150 value when it was first released. We, like, normally don't get pack-in games anymore =(.
