Yeah..I need to know how to make winamp scan through all the songs in my playlist without me scrolling through them for 5 minutes (So I can get the ID3, time, ect). So is there a way I can make winamp search through the entire playlist without me scrolling through it?

Hit J. This will open Winamp's "Jump to File" dialog. Type in words, and it'll filter your playlist down based matching keywords.
Double click the song you want to listen to from there, and Winamp will jump straight to that entry in your playlist.

No, Blaze - I think he misunderstood you. San, I wanted to do the exact same thing, and there is a toggle somewhere in the options to do it but I suggest you don't - if you load a helluva lot of songs into Winamp, it basically freezes for 10 minutes, switching all the names to the ID tags. Just stick with the scrolling.

Oh, that. Yeah. I just scroll, too.

Agreed with Smindas. If you set it to load it all immediately, Winamp will freeze for a bit, especially if your current playlist will require you to scroll through it "for a few minutes". ;P If you really want that though...
Options > Preferences
General Preferences > Titles
You'll want to click the top radiobutton.

On the subject of WinAmp, I just downloaded the latest update and all my skins have downloaded (any any others I tried downloading) don't work any more. It just makes me have the old ver3-type one. Anyone got ny ideas why this might be?

Oooh! Ohhh! I have a question too!
Do you guys know if there's a way to eliminate the gap between songs when listening to music from a CD? (I know WMP can do it)

Hm... I use an older version of Winamp so the settings may differ:
Go to Winamp Preferences/Plug-ins/Output Select DirectSound output, click Configure Go to the Other tab Check the Silence Remover radio box Configure the decibel level Winamp should cut off a track.
The higher the dB level, the more likely Winamp will cut off at a quiet point in a track. The lower, the less likely Winamp will actually efficiently cut off a track.

Yeah, I did that (along with disabling the Sonic engine from the Nullsoft CD outut plugin), but it didn't remove the gap entirely. It reduced it, but I still can notice a gap there. (Besides, disabling the Sonic engine decreases the sound quality).

If your ID3 information is that important to you, and you don't want to wait while your player loads up all the tags, iTunes is really the way to go (the Windows version even plays WMA files).

Actually, you can decrease the load time between songs by setting the preload buffer to high levels. I don't have any gap in my songs now.

Setting it to high levels cuts you off 1 or 2 seconds from the end of the song. The ideal leve, according to some Winamp gurus, is -40db. See, the prebuffer calculates any silence in the song and makes sure to remove it, and...well, it's not always perfect.

iTunes is so leet, that it doesn't use your CPU AT ALL EVER ;P Actually, I can't explain it. Windows is strange.
Anyway, in true MacOS fashion, you can sort by any ID3 tag. By clicking on "Song Name", "Time", "Album", or any of the other table headings to sort by that heading. But it looks like you have it sorted by album anyway. What specifically do you mean?

Yep. So far I can't find no option in iTunes to sort by file path anf filename. Very lame. And it won't let you move the "Song Name" column or let anything be moved to the left of it. Very, very lame, as I like to have info presented as Artist -> Album -> Track -> Song Name.

I still don't quite get what you mean by filtering by pathname, or why you would want to do it. Can you give me an example?

He keeps his music files from different albums, in different folders. So, he would have a metroid folder, final fantasy folder, etc. He wants iTunes to sort through his music according to how it is placed in these folders. He wants it like that because it's his personal preference. Happy?
