You'll remember sometime ago I did a tiny, short, one-level version of Kingdom Valley, Sonic Advance Style. My biggest gripe was that the level was so short. With Sonic 2k6 coming up and the demo hitting XBL, I went back to it. Stuff that's new: - Another coat of polish given to Act 1! - Brand-new Act 2! - Crates! - Mission Mode! (20 Missions in all, 10 per act) - Proper Kingdom Valley music! - Various bug fixes! So yeah. Have fun. It's 11mb. (about 2mb larger than the original release) blazemp3.sepwich.com/VERYTEMP/sonic2k62d.zipIncase you forgot what it looked like, here are screenshots:

Wow, the sort of 256 color PC game type 2D graphics I so enjoy that I could never seem to figure out how to do.

I dunno. You did pretty good with Troubled Windows.

I dunno. You did pretty good with Troubled Windows. Better than previous attempts. But I guess I have that "artist's perpetual imperfection vision" thing going that it never looked quite as good as I wanted it. If I ever find anyone who wants to do levels for it, that's still open... I mean, I was thinking about it this morning. It's all it really needs.

It appears you still haven't fixed that bug where Sonic can't move on during a curve if he's in a ball, only when he's running.
Plus I had a strange bug where the "MISSION FAILED" came up during the "get to the checkpoint in 30 seconds" one... after ten seconds.

Do you have "proper" sound effects for this? Short of ripping out whatever audio format they've used (which would be the best method), I've been dinking with my 360 and had a thought: one could use the soundtrack function to play an MP3 of dead-silence. It'll replace the in-game music and allow for semi-clean sound effects rips. (Past multiple sound effects overlapping, environmental sounds, et cetera.)
I might give it a shot fairly soonish.

Nope, no proper sounds. I tried to mix sound-alikes for most sounds, but others I just kept the ol' Genesis sounds in (or used Sonic Adventure sounds).

I thought I put in sounds.
Where are those footstep sound effects that I remember putting in?

He says he turned it all off in the notes for the game. I'm not sure why, when they're a constant part of the actual game.
And my idea wasn't even as complex as I made it out to be. Just start the game, load in a custom soundtrack, then pause it in the Guide, then return to the game. The only tricky part is there's often lots of little sounds going on at the same time, and no matter how slow you walk, Sonic "pliks" as he steps.

I thought I put in sounds. Where are those footstep sound effects that I remember putting in? You did put in sounds, and I changed quite a few. I disabled the footsteps because your footstep sounds were kind of annoying and at the time, I did not know Sonic had footsteps in 2k6.

I'd also prefer if rails were automatic, but you could drop through them using Button 2, instead of the reverse.
