Okay, so far I havent had any help with such amazing "flash gurus" at Flash Kit or at Tutorialized, so now I'm getting skeptical of Anime Rally 2 done in flash. Doing this idea in Click and Create might also be near impossible, probably. At least in the multiplayer mode, or at least it wont be accurate. Not even the 4 player mode in AR1 is fool-proof. Not to mention some bits were rushed to get it out the door.
What I should say is, unless I can get this one problem, this one flaw fixed, then it'll have to go hiatus until the next summer, when I'm sure that I can juggle my personal life and game development at the same time, considering how long the game took for me.
This may piss YSMN off, but I'm so interested in making a sequel I dont want to miss this opportunity. So, I have a proposal: I can make a couple of modifications to the previous engine so I can make it easier to work with than the first one, try and find some exploits I can work with on the engine so that making the multiplayer mode would be very simple. As well as level design.
For example: I believe to make level design simpler, it should all be in images, and all the code for collisions and other road hazards can be all in one frame. That way, all that woul need to be edited is the one frame to fix bugs, cuts down on time. My problem is that it might slow down MMF considerably or something.
I take this inspiration from Adobe Photoshop, basically one layer is the level itself, then another layer is the 'grass' that slows players down, one layer for 'falling off' and so on and so forth.
Of course, the engine is 'halfway' done in MMF, and because CNC doesnt have a limit on animations, there can definatley be more characters. Theres nothing set in stone yet, so suggestions at this point are very welcome...

Didn't spot this thread before. My interestedness is greater than zero. I think the main way to keep attacks from getting really cheap would be to just be careful not to make easily abused combinations. Watch out for 50-point attacks that are perfect setups for low-point attacks, and vice versa. Also Tenchi....and Pretty Cure. I think the logical way to do Pretty Cure would be a threesome to have Nagisa and Honoka as a single playable "character." They'd need a slightly larger car for this, though, and I don't know how well that would work.

I'd be interested to see what you use for Kamen Rider's attack. Fans who played AR and know who he is would cry murder if you didn't make the Rider Kick or some variation his attack, but the question is how you would make him do a fatal jump kick... while inside a car.

I'll be having some internet soonish, so I'll be getting back to work on this. Stop your complaining. It's only been like 2 weeks since I left and you are already giving up? Come on now. Thats just silly. After I get all into my apartment and got my internet going then it will be ok. Calm down bartman! CALM DOWN! ARE YOU OKAY?

I might change the focus of the Flash version, I was thinking that maybe it'd be a single-screen top down racer that works with 4 players. Kinda like Super Sprint. I also figure that custom cars probably wouldnt work for this type of game, so what about if theres 'customizable cars' where you can change the stats of the car after every race?

And the rest of the time, what, Nagisa swings her lacrosse stick wildly to hit things she happens to bump into and Honoka can't attack at all?

Plus I dont want to use sounds from the TV shows because of the background noise and music along with the voices... Sometimes you just have to look for the ones that have minimal to no BGM. I have a very large collection of El-Hazard voices which almost seem like they were never in the show at all...

I'm going to shoot for making the game as jam packed and small in filesize as possible, so I'm probably not going for any voice clips.
Also, Andrusi, are you absolutley sure they cant be split apart? At least briefly? Having them together in a car is not going to be easy, considering most cars are single seaters, and I dont want to rip off Double Dash. I'd have to get other characters to pair off and people would complain "Why cant I switch characters like in Dubbayou Dash?"
Think crazy-go nuts! Can Honoka attack with something aside from quick agility?
Edit: For Massive Damage?

And of course she can punch and kick like anyone else. But that'd be disappointing in sort of a "missed the point" way, like if Ash's attack was throwing his hat at people. If you really want to avoid pairing them permanently (which does have some potential problems, yeah, I see that now), I'd suggest avoiding Black and White in particular (sacrelige though that may be). Bloom and Egret (Saki and Mai) would probably be the best choice--they're significantly more independent, which works better for the racing game mechanic than N/H, but they also still have the combined attack, which would represent Pretty Cure better than Luminous (Hikari). EDIT: Yes! El-Hazard! The only question is, is Ifurita alone ('cause you know she'd have to be there) or does one of the other characters accompany her?

THere can be some kind of 'thrust' attack maybe? I gave an attack to Akane in the first game where she basically "Whooshes" foward, sort of a boost. But running into anyone would stun them (It was supposed to be smacking them straight up in the air, since thats the craziest move I could come up with for her) Those could work, maybe?
I kinda like to call it a "Melee" attack =P

Is that Osaka I see in the middle there? If so, Chiyo-Chan also need apply. Actually, anyone from Azumanga would be a treat. Ooh, and Ghibli characters. You gotta have Ghibli characters in an anime rally game.

But of course Chiyo will be in the next one, I hope I'm getting the style right, since most of the characters dont quite look like they'd fit in any other show.

Having thought it over some more, I was being quite silly. If "see, because science!" is good enough for Honoka and "see, because lacrosse!" for Nagisa in the actual Pretty Cure DS game, then they're good enough for Anime Rally.
I figure the ideal ways to go with these would be for Nagisa to shoot a lacrosse ball that behaves more or less like a green shell, going straight forward and bouncing off a few walls before disappearing, and for Honoka to have a mini-boost like you described (the idea being that she's developed some kind of super-fuel that she has in a separate tank and can inject as needed, though she can't use it all the time because then it would probably explode).
Of course, it's still important that they have combination attack(s). I was thinking two: Marble Screw shoots straight forward and harms people along the way until it hits a wall, and Rainbow Storm hits everyone. Both have the side effect of undoing any negative effects on both Honoka/Nagisa and the targeted players (in Mario Kart, for instance, it would make lightning'd characters immediately return to full size).

This should be the new annoying reply. You know those silly ads we have so often on this board. Someone says something and you reply FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE! Makes me feel tingly inside just thinking about it. Oh and Bart, send me my game.
