There are plenty of times I've disagreed with their scores... but the reason I started caring at Zelda wasn't because of the score, but the review itself.
Like I said, if it's not your cup of tea... fine. But that review was specifically written to bring down hype on a game.

But that review was specifically written to bring down hype on a game. . All I can really say is that if you think that, you really don't know how their review guidelines work. The point the reviewer (Gerstmann) was trying to make was that TP shouldn't get an automatic 10 just because it's Zelda. While I have yet to experience TP in any way, shape, or form, he's probably right on some of the things he mentioned.

It's hard to tell how their review guidlines work when you have the same reviewer, of the same game, on two different platforms, saying one version is better but giving the OTHER version the higher score.
It's genuinely WTF-worthy.

But like I said, he rated the game an 8.8 to prove a point more-so than rate the game on its merits and faults. I know the review guidlines fairly well, and that's my fuckin point... is that the reason I liked Gamespot was because they followed those guidlines. As of the past few months, they seem to be shaky on game to game. and if you think I'm just mad because he rated TP lower, there are plenty of reviews that Gerstmann's given us which I disagree with, yet still respect fully. TP's, not so much.

Well, if you think Gamespot's out there to make great games feel bad, then that's your prerogative. I think his point is: It's dumb, because it clearly compromises their integrity as far as actually rating games based on merit. That's all. You can't trust Gamespot, there's certifiable proof now that they rate games based on an agenda rather than the quality of the game. It is their choice, of course. And perhaps all reviewers do this (I would assume they do until proven otherwise, actually). It's unfortunate though, as it's not even in their best interests to do so.

Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess is sent to another dimension. This would be funny/true if Gamespot actually HAD an "Over 9000" power level - the way they reviewed Zelda seemed to imply otherwise. I could think of tons of flaws with Twilight Princess, but apparently instead of actually noting them, Gamespot picked on Zelda because of it's hype and hype alone.

Gamespot picked on Zelda because of it's hype and hype alone. I would debunk that but it appears my opinion is null as the overwhelming majority think they got an agenda or something. This ain't a conspiracy theory anyway. Or is it?
