Sofox: You would rather me really swear on a public forum? American science is underfunded unless it's unquestionably going to make big sales, where as I imagine the Japanese are more willing to take risks when developting new ideas. Such a project as the mech suit would take a lot of funding, and I doubt any US company is willing risk that much on something that would take a great deal of time to develop into something useful. Unless they just knew that it would make them tons of money in return. Funding shmunding. However, I think you answered my question, indirectly... The Americans aren't doing this stuff because there's no guaranteed careers in it, and our society has become so controlled by the dollar that that's a more important factor than innovation or creativity. Really unfortunate. This is why I need to become rich.

Not to mention this is really all we have to show for our efforts. We'd probably get pointed and laughed at if we tried competing.

I think I heard somewhere that the Japanese Government fund robot development.
The American Government funds stuff that's used to increase our defense (and offense.)

So while we're off battling terrorists, Japan will be ready with its own battalion of giant robots in the chance that anyone decides to attack them.
I wonder which of the two is going to make more leeway.

Ah, it all makes sense now. Since the US has prevented Japan from establishing a military, the Japanese government has invested in creating a working mecha, in the hopes of creating a mecha army to conquer the world!

The only reason America is behind on this stuff is because our scientists are busy working on a viable hydrogen-powered engine.

A viable hydrogen powered engine that the massive oil conglomerates funded by our wonderfully intelligent president will smash out of existance due to sheer greed and refusal to let their monopolous grip on fuel go. That's what's been happening for years, and why, instead of MORE gas efficient vehicles, for the most part, we get LESS efficient ones, and they're marketed as "The best!"..
Like all those stupid fucking SUVs clogging up the roads. Seriously, who NEEDS an SUV? Most people that buy them live in a CITY. THERE IS NO OFFROAD DRIVING. THERE IS NOTHING OF THE SORT.

I skimmed through that and read, "Tour groups and children were harassed during Q1's glitch spasms," and thought, "OMFG They even programmed menstruation!"
But wow. Very impressive. It's like Chobits is the Japanese government's mission statement or something.

XD The man in the picture looks like he's pissed at the robot for eating a rice cake in the first shot, and in the second shot he ponders whether or not to install a vagina for...afternoon delight!

She almost looks like a real woman in that first shot. It's only the second one that she has the typical "dead eye" syndrome most non-living creatures have =P

It's like people WANT us to be enslaved by robots.

bah, robots will never enslave us.
At least not yet.
More than likely we'll have robots having 'illegal operation errors' and 'fatal erros' since they'll be running on WinXP.
Maybe we'll have 'blue eyes of death'? XD
I can only imagine:
Operator: Ok, now put that highly explosive material in the container.
Robot: Affermative, moving atomic bomb fr--- error, program 'movearms.exe' has preformed an illegal operation and will be terminated.
*robots arms go limp*
BOOOM!
