Since the Haruhi being licensed front has been rather quiet lately, I figure it's time for some news. Most of the "o"s and "s"s at animeondvd.com have been converted to links to a certain site. So far, we don't know who has it, and a whois search only tells this name of what's probably some domain name provider in the US. So, December 22. I wonder what it will bring.

The Chan image boards are gonna EXPLODE. (Personally I'd rather see something like Chibi Maruko Chan get licensed so I can buy this on DVD: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS5N_aR7yTo than a series I can barely distinguish from 80% of the western anime market, but fair dos, good news or those who like the series. Also, why hasn't anyone picked Mind Game up yet, are they mad, or is it not generic looking enough?)

Everybody loves Haruhi Suzumiya. She is a terrific mystery anime thing or something that everyone loves, I don't know.
To be honest I only saw the 30 seconds of Phoenix Wright parody.

I haven't seen it, it just looks generic to me, and even reading about it doesn't seem to change that fact. It just seems as though we get a series like this every year that's hugely popular for a short while and is then thrown to the side when the next one comes along. Azumanga was an exception to the rule, however, and was a bit of a rare gem under all of these series' of anime girls with the same eyes and same expressions and same poses and same character types.

To be honest I only saw the 30 seconds of Phoenix Wright parody. That was 30 seconds of awesome, but the show is much more awesome than that. Haruhi truely is God. I haven't seen it, it just looks generic to me, and even reading about it doesn't seem to change that fact. It just seems as though we get a series like this every year that's hugely popular for a short while and is then thrown to the side when the next one comes along. The heathen must be purged. He speaks of blasphemy. Haruhi is, as far as I know, still hugely popular in Japan even after the show ended, and was popular even before it started thanks to a little thing we call the NOVELS.

I probably wouldn't like it. Everything like this that people obsess over I always find disinteresting and overrated.

"Everything like this that people obsess over I always find disinteresting and overrated." So how 'bout that Pokemon, Evan? Anyway, neat. I've never seen Haruhi, but it seems interesting

Pokemon isn't popular with anyone anymore. Especially not in the anime community

But I hated it when people liked it. That's how being a teenager works.

You know, last I checked, Pokémon was still as popular as ever over in Japan. Ofcourse, you don't care about that, do you.

The great thing about the show is that you can find things to really like without it being an obvious "assemble" piece. Some of it rips on other anime, some of it has a serious mystery flow that has you guessing at things (assuming you haven't heard spoilers or read the books), Kyon has a constant jaded/realistic thought voice-over to many of the events going on... and it still manages to have impressive sequences and likeable characters. Including more focus on those who might otherwise be "wallflowers," so to speak. Single best pilot episode ever, too. And I'm amused to think back to it now because mild spoiler.

View the page source to that site, and switch your character encoding to EUC-JP, and you'll see this: 禁則事項は12月22日に公表します. Basically, "Classified information will be announced on December 22nd." I'm going to say "parallels the novels, eh?" and leave it at that.
