So all five of these Cures are new characters?

Almost definitely.
It's not really unexpected. Saki and Mai were new, too.

Blimey, it even has your typical cute animal mascots. This anime just couldn't get any more generic if it tried.
So what is it that you find so appealing about it, Andrusi? I can't see it, myself. It's like Sailor Moon...again.

I mean the whole franchise in general, including the one in your avatar and sig. Maybe I just don't get the whole appeal of the magical girl franchise for people other than little girls or smelly otakus. No offense!

I'm totally mad gay, but I won't let myself believe it. so instead of watching a show about boys like Ouran Male Prostitute Club, I watch shows about girls who are prepubescent and thus haven't developed distinguishing girl figures.

I'd probably need to watch Precure to see what makes it special compared to Sailor Moon and the like, but I always assumed having a cast equivilant to a sentai show would destroy that "Uniqueness" a tad.

If that show didn't have as much nudity I would have felt less guilty when wtaching it.

I'd probably need to watch Precure to see what makes it special compared to Sailor Moon and the like, but I always assumed having a cast equivilant to a sentai show would destroy that "Uniqueness" a tad. That's pretty much the current feeling in the fandom (well, the English-speaking fandom anyway). It's possible that the new series will essentially be a Sailor Moon-ish show, with the Pretty Cure name kept around for the name recognition. On the other hand, given how little we actually know at this point, it's also possible that it'll be undeniably Pretty Cure in every way, and it just doesn't look right because we're missing important information. In any event, it's probably a necessary change. I like Splash Star, but even I have to admit it's mostly a retread of N&H when all's said and done, and any future "Futari wa" Pretty Cure would likely be the same. (There are ways this could be avoided, but none of them seem likely for a Sunday morning kids' cartoon.) This is an older image. With it added in, you guys now know as much as we do. Lemonade and Aqua apparently come with different equipment than the other three; it's not clear yet what this means.

It means the other three are Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
