I observed other people play. I learned the secret art of Goomba-stomping, then proceeded to practice myself.
...also I was three, I'm surprised I remember much of anything from back then.

Mine was probably the Coconuts thing, although I was honestly too young to remember.
The first time I played Super Mario Bros. I was already well aquainted with Mario and knew to jump on the goomba :[

I got hit by the EQUIVALENT of "the first Goomba" on my first Gameplay experience; I hit the first Motobug in Sonic 1 on the Master System.
So I guess that counts as a "Yes".
