We all remember ManicKillaz, right? The big fat warning sign that something was wrong was the fact my modem's orange light - the "ACT" light, was one solid color. This ment the modem was in use - and considering how solid it was, that ment heavy use.
I've gone through a reboot now, and that orange light is on again - not solid, but it's there. Unplugging the modem and then re-plugging it back in does nothing. (Granted, I've only unplugged it for a max of about 15 minutes)
According to Sygate, however, whatever is doing this is nothing more than a pinprick - hitting me, at max, for about 5k/s on average. Thankfully, if I read the readme right, Sygate appears to be blocking the attack to the best of it's ability (if the arrow pointing down is red, that means it's blocking incoming traffic) - meaning whatever is attacking isn't getting through. At least, not to my PC. My modem is a different story. But at only 5k/s, it's pretty much unnoticable (however, Gunz did seem to be lagging pretty bad).
I've done a quick spyware scan and a virus scan (nothing too deep, but deep enough to detect something obvious) and both seem to be more or less clean.
So the question is: Who is doing this? ManicKillaz weilded more power than this, so I'm counting him out. That leaves one possible (known) suspect: Everybody's favorite drunk mental patient. He's been rather quiet for the last few days, giving him enough time to find a tool that might help him initiate a pathetic DOS.
The only other suspect was a pathetic aimbot/speedhacker I encountered while playing Zombie Panic! earlier today, but really, I doubt most people that use those cheating tools have enough intelligence to organize a DOS. And, to top it all off, it's not like I provoked that person, either - making me an unlikely target.
Even so, I should probably disconnect my modem for a few hours and then come back tomorrow. Just thought I'd let you guys know what was up.

So it's been what..? Almost 2 hours, I think, if I compare my post times (2:15am vs. 4:08am)? Plugged the modem back in and it's still doing it. Firefox is the only program I am running that needs to access the internet.
I'm gonna totally shut down the computer, and if the light is still blinking even when the PC is off, then I'll know for sure something is assaulting my modem.
----
Hm. I turned the PC off, and the light was still blinking the entire time. But just now, for about 10 seconds, it went off and stayed off, only to come back on again.
Still. I'd say that pretty much clinches it: No program on my computer is doing this; it can't be - for this to be happening while the computer is no longer turned on means no programs from within the box itself are talking to the modem. An outside force is trying to attack me somehow, perhaps annoy the hell out of me or gain access to my computer. I have two firewalls up, one I presume is hardware, and Sygate Personal (which is software), so... I... might be safe. I think. I'd love to have Rob or Squiggles around right now. =P But they are preoccupied with other activities.

Suspicious indeed.
