The early cover previews of comics are up. But all y'all furries are boner for Sonic so here's Archie's soliciitation, with the covers to March's #173 for Sonic the Hedgehog, and #18 for Sonic X. #173 looks like a nice idea, but the colors just make it look so passive and uninvolving. Although I guess there's a chance the print version could be better. Sonic X looks weird. Newsarama also has a list of the March comics for Marvel and DC but few of you care about stuff like a Zemo miniseries and a Power Pack miniseries and other things that aren't as cool as a Power Pack meets Baron Zemo miniseries would be.

I love how they say Sonic 173's cover is by Tracy Yardley and Jim Amash when it's clearly signed by Spaz.

Spaz has really lost his touch when it comes to cover art for the main Archie series. That's a pretty weak cover for Sonic X, too.
I don't deny Spaz is still great at drawing, but his composition has been suffering for years now. It's obvious he's simply out of ideas on how to draw Sonic for the main series anymore.
His Sonic X covers are generally better, but not this time.

It feels more like someone is saying "Ok, Spazz, we have this list of things you have to have in the cover image. We had a focus group and we think if you draw Sonic really large on the cover on a white background, our readership will go up by at least 13%" "But it'll look like ass" "Spazz, I can see you don't understand marketing." I'd really be surprised if he had much creative control at all.

There a Sonic comic in the #60s or #70s that had a cover even more generic than #173. I'm trying to remember which one it was.

I keep looking at that Sonic X cover and wonder how low they think the readers IQ is. I mean, sure the quality of the image is good.. but the duologue just reads like it was written by... well... an Archie writer. The tag just makes it worse. Not only is it a bad joke, but they feel like they have to explain it to you too.
I wish someone would cater to the older, more intelligent audiences.. I'm starting to feel neglected.

Don't get too upset, I think the overkill may be pointing to the actual story in symbolic terms, I.E. "It seems so obvious, it must be true." Or I'm probably giving it too much credit. I've done that a fair bit lately. And I've got to say, for a kid's comic, for Sonic properties... that's a pretty defined butt on Rouge. O_o Also: ...Oh, give me a friggin' BREAK. Ian, don't fail us... ;_; Although it's probably something like Hershey and St. John. Or weren't they already married? Ah, who can keep track.

as opposed to those common priceless gems. That's Spazz? It's still a good drawing, I mean, Sonic's expression is good. But then Archie got an inker and colorist who are better suited to Betty and Veronica Digest each other. Has they not heard of Photoshop. Also the cover reminds me of this one.

Good Gods. That Sonic X is the best cover ever. I mean, it's just Rouge's arse. Day one purchase.

I read a more recent Sonic issue and it took everything I had in me to keep my head from spinning due to the massive amount of references to past issues.
Perhaps I should consider torrenting...

Yeah. You can tell Ian's really cleaning house when he references like 20 issues in the span of 4 pages. Which is good. House cleaning is needed and much appreciated.

That was basically the Dubbs/Ian plan. MAJOR shifts to pull things back to a more simplistic level, get things back in line with the games, et cetera. Not so much that it's unfair to the reader, but things like fixing the number of Chaos Emeralds (whereas Archie used to mostly have them as random green stones that'd be available in uncountable number, such as in Super Sonic vs. Hyper Knuckles), getting rid of lots of dangling threads that've just been hanging for months, if not years, other unexplained things... (I did like Eggman's remark in that recent comic, "Don't you see the genius in my plan?" "Sounds rather convoluted if you ask me...")
Wish I knew who decided Antoine "wasn't really Antoine", though. I got REALLY disappointed when I saw that, because it meant that instead of explaining a change in a character, you're backpedaling and saying it's an imposter they somehow didn't pick up on (really, NO ONE knew why the scar happened?) and so let's bring back the version people remember that makes things simpler again.
Still, I need to sit down and read through the various issues I've managed to pick up (I have a lot of holes in my collection at this point, though.)
Also, I enjoyed Rlan's post, and Nero's following, because apparently you can pretend to be waiting for a comic by simply giving an adjective and a popular character name. "Geez, when are they going to get around to releasing Fantabulous Psylocke #6?" Throw in a "vs." or "Meets" and another character name to spice it up now and then.

I know I can't wait for Monounsaturated Superman.
Also, it occurs to me that this is extremely similar to how you make up fake anime titles. You just need a noun in the middle.
